burn, let it all burn this hurricane's TAG: Prompto Words: 636
ONE LAST THING: This is terribad!
That these towering, turtle-like monsters weren’t indigenous to Noctis’ own world was, only right in this moment, a genuine shame. He would have known how to take one of them down without it coming close to pounding him into the ground.
Saying nothing to the blond also doing his best to evade and fight off the massive beast, Noctis stopped his retreat and set his feet to get ready to lash out against thick legs four times his size. Targeting the left-front leg as he’d been doing ever since the clash had begun, Noctis focused long enough to summon two lances to each side of him and send them rushing at the knee. The creature bellowed again, with Noctis wondering how it managed to lift up both of its front legs at once with as much as they must have weighed. The red glow that had been emanating from his eyes dissipated as he acknowledged the presence of the blond working with a shotgun a short distance from him. ”Prompto! Back again,” he called to the other man, before moving to follow his own advice and rush away from the oversized turtle. Their escape from the creature wasn’t much of an escape – there were beasts and threats everywhere from what Noctis could see, so at best they had to slowly pull themselves back while actually fighting the monster that normally they would have simply avoided. They’d fortunately managed to bloody it due to the fact that it was the smallest one in the area – yes, there were more than one of these giants – though it hadn’t been an easy task thus far.
The turtle crashed down again, sending Noctis nearly to the ground again from the impact and the rough rattle of the ground. Not only was that immensely annoying and, if the two of them had been any closer to the beast, dangerous, the beast’s tantrums drew the attention of the creatures in the immediate area. Noctis could see another pair of the deformed-looking feline creatures coming their way, and impassively pointed them out to Prompto. They were only an annoyance, but an annoyance that neither of them wanted chewing on them as they tried to drop a beast ten times their size. ”More of the cats…you can get rid of those.” And while Prompto would do that, Noctis would be busy with the real problem. Stepping forward again with eyes reddening, he set himself up in front of the turtle and set to summoning as many weapons as he could manage at one time, forming them into a long line that rushed out and down towards the feet of their target. Noctis had been trying for the last ten minutes to trip the creature up, to no avail. The case of the bigger they are, the harder they fall wasn’t proving true at the moment.
Of course, nothing at the moment made much sense, considering how they’d apparently been pulled into the middle of nowhere, a place called Gran Pulse as they’d learned from a man living alone on this steppe, no more than a few hours before.
Noctis ignored the desire to try and figure out the hows or whys in favor of continuing his work against the beast. He teleported away when the beast made another, half-hearted stop, flashing back into place at its side and sending a pair of offensive spells – a Fire and a Thunder – at the same knee as before. In a strange reaction, as if it was unused to the sensation, the beast recoiled a bit and stared down in Noctis’ general direction as if to pout. Noctis returned the gaze with red eyes, before flashing back to the front to get to work again, deciding he needed a better idea for bringing down huge turtles here soon.

Why did everything in life want to kill you?
Flipping some more ammo into his high powered shotgun, Prompto’s eyes flickered from Noctis to the turtle thing they were battling. The hell was with it anyway? Did it not get the memo that turtles were supposed to be small and, you know, not the size of buildings? Yeah, they seemed to grow them big here. Even bigger than back home…and there were some beasts there that Prompto thought were big enough there. This was just ridiculous. Whoever thought they should actually live in a place like this had to be crazy. With more ammo back in his weapon, Prompto snapped it back to his shoulder, quickly squeezing off some more rounds. Despite how much he had modified his weaponry to be able to destroy things, he really didn’t think it was having any effect on this particular creature.
At least Noct was-…what was Noct doing? Okay, lances to knees just gave them a pissed off giant turtle instead of just a giant turtle. This was the best day ever. Fall back?! “Fantastic idea!”, he shouted out, before he started his retreat. Even though he had braced himself for the impact to the earth, Prompto was still thrown forward until he was on one knee, propping himself up with one of his hands flat on the ground. Muttering under his breath, Prompto snatched his shotgun back and jumped to his feet again. Twisting around, Prompto shoved his shotgun back in his back holster and snatched out his second gun – more of a handgun, but with a better range, and proceeded to snap off some more shots as he retreated back, aiming for the head.
The growl of the cats was just yet another great thing to add to the day. Groaning slightly, Prompto nodded to show Noctis that he had got the message. “Yeah, leave the Pussies to me. You should always do that, you know?”, he called cheerfully. With a second hand to steady his weapon, Prompto dropped the first two cats with two well-placed shots. A third had another idea, and rushed. The click of an empty cartridge caused a curse to come from him, before he slammed his second gun in his holster and scrambled back even as he pulled out his shotgun. All he got was a wild shot while the cat flew through the air and toward him, before he threw himself to the side to avoid being kitty food. Even with the power from the shotgun, the cats body still made it to him, catching his shoulder and spinning him underneath its lifeless body. Prompto grunted and kicked the cat off of him, before he rolled to his knees, grabbed his hastily deposited shotgun, and popped back to his feet, rubbing his arm to rid himself of the blood the kitty had drawn.
He was way too old for this. Snapping some ammo back into his weapons, Prompto turned and sprinted back to where his friend. His blue eyes scanned the damage Noctis had been giving. “Yo, next time you get the bunch of pussies and I’ll take the classy broad, alright?” Exchanging weapons one more time, Prompto squinted slightly to glance down his barrel before rapidly squeezing off shots. “If it’d hold still, I’d blind it!”, he grumbled out, determined to do just that.

burn, let it all burn this hurricane's TAG: Prompto Words: 549
ONE LAST THING: Short for fightyness.
Though tempted to tell Prompto that he’d rather leave the pussies to him, Noctis disregarded the statement for favor of concentrating and for the effort to avoid Prompto striking up an entire dissertation on the subject, a result that Noctis didn’t particularly want. With attention on the giant turtle, Noctis continued the slow work of trying to stagger it or, at the very least, harming it enough that it ceased its attack and gave Noctis and Prompto a chance to focus fire and ultimately bring it down for good. Though Noctis had trained himself to capably take down monsters larger than he was and could typically do so as well as anyone, the monster looming over him proved wrong all of his ideas about how to debilitate a creature this size. The idea of his failure to be strong enough flashed through his mind, as if spoken by his father, but they didn’t have the same sting as they previously had. Lately, Noctis didn’t much care what his father thought…but the reasons why he didn’t care made him wonder what had happened to Stella during the strange phenomenon that had dragged Noctis and Prompto into their current predicament.
After flashing an incredulous look in Prompto’s direction as the blond continued to use his ridiculous metaphors, Noctis discouraged the beast from advancing with an assault from a set of blades before his eyes returned to their normal state yet again. He fell back a few feet to where Prompto waited, hearing his companion say he’d be able to blind it if it would hold still. The wheels began to turn in the prince’s mind, his eyes glaring up at the large set of tusks protruding from the face of the giant turtle. ”Distract it as much as you can,” Noctis said without looking to Prompto, before the redness returned and Noctis shot forward with aid of a teleport to reside under the creature’s head. There he remained, cautiously watching for any stomps or other problematic actions taken by the beast, until Prompto had started up his distraction. Then, Noctis went to work.
Looking above him to the base of the head, Noctis focused on a spot just above the snout and teleported. He, as he had anticipated, arrived directly in front of the beast’s head and hopped off of it with a foot to buy a few more seconds suspended there in front of the face. Summoning three chain whips to each side of him, Noctis used the couple of seconds of air time to wrap them around both tusks securely, never having to actually touch them. Momentum finally carried him back down towards the ground, and Noctis braced himself for the effort of trying to pull the head down with him. The resistance hit once Noctis was only about eight feet from the ground, and with a telekinetic yank and the assistance of the creature’s surprise at the maneuver, it bellowed as its head lowered down to a point where Prompto could hit it with whatever he wanted. Noctis remained in place, still trying to hold the head in place. Hopefully Prompto would take the hint as soon as possible, because even a great deal of focus couldn’t keep something so large and powerful in place for very long.

Prompto hadn’t really expected an answer from his friend after the analogy of the pussies and class broad. Though the blonde didn’t say anything else for the moment on that subject, he at least hoped that his dark haired pal actually had gotten the metaphor. If not, they might have to have a serious chat about life and what happened in that life. Then again, you’d think that from how much he’d been hanging around with that Flueret girl, he might have at least an idea on what Prompto had meant. But yeah, if not they were going to have to have a serious conversation about women and how life was continued. Lucky for Noct, Prompto was the perfect person to have such a chat with, so they should be fine by the end of the day if they weren’t already. Well…he could think about that later, right now he had a broad to take care of.
Grasping at his shells, Prompto slipped some ammo into his weapon and clicked it shut again, blue eyes scanning at the large beast that seemed to want to eat them for breakfast. Whose grand idea had it been to attack this thing? Sure hadn’t been his idea, that was for sure. If he wanted to handle a broad, he sure as hell wouldn’t have traveled so far to do it, especially with there being plenty of women back where they’d been previously. “I gotcha big boss man!” Prompto realized what Noct was going to do when he lifted his gun and rapidly fired off shots, all aimed for the head of the beast. That would get it distracted. “Ooooh come on you ugly son of a-“ It didn’t seem happy with him, as it roared loud enough to drown him out.
“Well alrighty then.”, he muttered out as he once again started to reload the weapon he held in his hand. “I’ll just do all the work while Noct sits unde-…” When he looked back up he noticed the work that the prince was doing with the chain whips and the tusks. “Hot damn!” For a moment he just stood there, somewhat in awe of what was being accomplished. Once it had been completed though, he snapped back into action. Taking off at a run toward the massive beast, Prompto slipped away his hand weapon and slid his shotgun back into his hands. Quickly he got himself close enough to do the damage he wanted. Cradling the shotgun up against his shoulder, Prompto squeezed off his rounds directly into the face of the beast, blinding it. “Alriiiight!”, he said in delight, while it thrashed and roared in pain. At least he’d done his part in this whole shindig. “What next big boss man?” He rather liked that name…big boss man. Fit him anyway. With his handgun out once more, the blonde concentrated his firepower back on the head of the thrashing beast, attempting to fill it as full of bullets as possible. One of them would have to get past that thick wall of armored skin…right? Suuuure. That’d be lovely.

burn, let it all burn this hurricane's TAG: Prompto Words: 622
ONE LAST THING: It's chase scene time!
The sound of Prompto’s gun firing off a set of shots towards the beast’s eyes would have sounded like music to Noctis’ ears if he hadn’t been so dug in and focused on not getting thrown back into the air. Once Prompto announced that his work was done, though – as proven by the blood at the turtle’s eyes and its strong reaction to the damage that had been done – Noctis let the chains revert back into nothingness, prompting a bellow from the creature as it rose back to its full height that threatened to shatter Noctis’ ears as his eyes reverted back to their normal state. They had a blinded beast on their hands, but that blindness did not change the fact that it was still twenty times their size and not debilitated in other ways save for the wounds that they had inflicted. As it stomped in frustration at its weakened state, though, and Noctis took a few steps back so he wouldn’t get caught with one of the feet, he was starting to work up the means to get the beast on its side so that he and Prompto could finally finish it off. As he turned to step back to the blond man’s side, Noctis spotted what could hopefully work as their best bet to get the creature belly-up…or at least side-up.
”We herd it to the rocks,” Noctis answered, pointing a finger towards a set of jagged rocks that were jutting from the ground not more than fifteen feet behind them. ”Shoot at it from the rocks and it will come in the direction of the shots. It’s livid.” Moving to take his own advice, Noctis rushed back to hop up on the rocks. Fighting from a distance was Prompto’s deal, but Noctis could manage annoyance of the creature. Once atop one of the higher rocks after a couple of steps up, Noctis again turned silent, a small handful of javelins appearing in the air around him. Slowly, they one-by-one advanced towards the creature and lodged within its skin before dissipating, and as Noctis had assumed, the turtle took it as an offense and slowly started stomping its way, pitifully due to its blindness, in the general direction of the javelins. Noctis knew that Prompto’s shots would get it going in more of the right direction and get it to these rocks if anything. He would-
Gunshots – ones that Noctis knew weren’t all Prompto’s unless his partner had been carrying an assortment of assault rifles in his shirt – rang out, breaking Noctis out of his rather calm stance and drawing his reddened eyes in the direction that he thought the shots to be coming from. What he found was a series of troops that looked not unlike troops from Niflheim. They were shooting at the now-manic beast, but Noctis knew that if they were indeed from Niflheim that he and Prompto would be the next targets. Noctis stared at them warily, before the aura of his powers again left him and his eyes settled on Prompto. ”We need to leave,” he frustratingly told his friend, before again turning his eyes to the soldiers. Knowing that one, despite the helmet he wore, looked him right in the face, Noctis turned and jumped off of the rocks, landing smoothly before darting off towards a nearby rise in the ground that he and Prompto could hide behind. He thought he heard some mechanically-filtered yells coming over the sounds of the screaming – and now falling – monstrosity, but Noctis didn’t let them stop him. The last thing he was going to allow today, after all he’d been through with his father and with Stella’s situation, was Niflheim to earn themselves a powerful prisoner.

Prompto released his pent up breath in relief when he saw that his idea to blind the beast had actually worked. For all he knew, it hadn’t been going to. He could just be thankful that it actually had worked. Despite being overly cocky and confident about most of his actions, sometimes Prompto wasn’t quite as he appeared to be. Though he felt like cheering a little more, he kept his mouth shut by the realization that they still had a massive and angry beast on their hands. Despite not being able to see them, it could crush them just as easily if it did manage to get anywhere near them with its big feet. And he meant biiiig. Prompto had never seen anything quite as large that actually lived before in his life. Then again, there were first times for everything.
Thankfully Noctis had an idea, because Prompto had been clean out of them. Despite not liking the idea of herding some giant beast across the country, the blonde also realized that Noct was the only one of the two of them that had any ideas right now. Besides that, he’d also gotten to the point that he knew Noctis usually had ideas that worked out. You weren’t a guardian for as long as he had been – though nowhere near as long as the other two – and “You got it!”, he said loudly. “Hope ya know what we’re doin’.”, he called next, before hefting up his gun and trying to angle his position in front of the beast slightly. “HEEEEEEEEEEY! Ya’ big ugly bastard! Come on and get me!”, he shouted at the beast, before lifting his shotgun and firing every shot in the air. With the same bellow of anger it had done previously, it started moving in his direction. Oh crap. Time to run! Prompto quickly fumbled in his belt loop for more ammo and started to reload while sprinting the rest of the way toward the rock outcropping. As the beast lumbered toward them, he scrambled up and on the rocks until he was beside Noct, panting for breath.
Right after he got there, he’d finished reloading and had just snapped his shotgun back together when he heard the gunshots go off. As soon as he heard them, Prompto snapped his head up and whirled to face them. “Aww crap.”, he muttered out in frustration. “Ya think?”, he burst out when his friend and comrade told him that they needed to go. “We needed to go last year.” Directly after, Noctis was gone, Prompto right on his heels. The shrieking of the beast falling to the ground spurred him on faster until he was even managing to catch up to his friend. Right after, he could have sworn that he felt a few shots being placed in their direction – though it could very well just be his imagination. Jerking to the right in an awkward sort of hop, Prompto twisted slightly, shoved his shotgun on his back and picked up his handgun. Okay, no one especially close. So he could concentrate on running again.
Or falling. Directly over the bluff, unseen to him, was a sort of miniature cliff. “Wooah.”, he gasped while pitching forward and starting an odd sort of rolling down the hill. “Nugh!” He fell a foot in a second little drop off, earning a “Ow!” Prompto rolled over a few times while cursing before he actually managed to pop up seemingly unharmed. He even popped up still in a dead run, though once again there was a slight incline in the ground they were running on and he found himself going uphill while cursing the day he’d ever signed up to become a guardian.

burn, let it all burn this hurricane's TAG: Prompto Words: 697
ONE LAST THING: CONFUSION. And blade shields. Best combination.
The situation that Noctis and Prompto found themselves in could either be counted as the best or worst they could have hoped for. On one hand, they were under attack, yes, but their foes were now occupied with one another and could potentially wipe one another out. Noctis would have loved to hear the soldiers go silent just before the beast collapsed after them. On the other hand, they were not only dealing with a beast that could split the ground at its will, but they were also facing a potential problem with a squad from Niflheim that had found them out in the open.
As Noctis had told his friend, running was really all they could do. Across the jagged ground he ran ahead, only slowing up a moment to make sure he could keep Prompto within earshot even with the other ruckus that was going on behind them. The first time he spared a glance to their rear was when a bullet upturned the dirt at his side. It looked as if half the squad was focusing on the monster. The other half seemed to be half-supporting them and half giving pursuit to the two fugitives. ”We can’t win a foot race,” he told his friend, having seen nothing for miles around but wilderness when they’d first arrived after their odd blackout. The squad had a ship in support of them, for crying out loud…they weren’t going to simply fall behind because Noctis and Prompto were running.
Especially when they were running with no knowledge of the landscape. Noctis spotted the decline in the land that Prompto did not, and slowed up enough to hold up and reel himself in so he wouldn’t go falling down the hill himself. He set his feet, let his eyes flash red, and teleported down to the bottom of the hill just as Prompto’s descent ended and he resumed running. Noctis didn’t stop to check on the guardian, seeing that he was no worse for wear after the fall, only starting to ascend the small incline in the land that was going to be their undoing. Unless something completely unexpected had detonated somewhere close, the beast had just gone down. His eyes shifted over to Prompto, giving him a knowing look. Now they were both Niflheim’s primary focus.
Once they reached the top of the incline, their popularity reached a head. Bullets flew more freely, but Noctis couldn’t help but think they all seemed to be warning shots. He didn’t take any sort of risk, though. Whirling once at the top of the incline, his eyes went red yet again and he produced a fresh set of blades to shield him. He waited for bullets to crash against his weapon-based shield. None of them ever did. In fact, the shots immediately stopped once he performed the act, and for all intents and purposes it looked like all the soldiers stopped and drooped their shoulders in surprise at his spectacle. Cold eyes regarded them all, Noctis as confused as they were though his expression didn’t betray it. Niflheim knew what he was capable of. They’d be sending every damned thing in their arsenal at him to try and bring him down. He waited a few extra seconds. Nothing.
Dropping his guard, Noctis narrowed his eyes at them and motioned for Prompto to continue on with their feeling. The sound of the soldiers resuming their pursuit reached his ears a few seconds later. The pursue him and fire…then play scared when he gives them a show of force…and then they follow again. ”Nothing they’re doing is making any sense,” Noctis spared a few panted breaths to say to the blond, opening the door for the gunner to throw in any opinions he had. They would both find out soon enough what was going on – again, unless they could reach the treeline at a distance from them, they were going to get caught – but Noctis hated not knowing his foe.
His eyes again shifted over his shoulder to the soldiers pouring over the incline. Why did it sound like they were imploring for the two of them to cease and desist only?

Prompto heard Noctis’ words moments before he got tangled up in a sharp dip in the terrain. With a bit of a yelp, he flipped, rolled over quite a few times and popped back up still running. “No shit.”, he burst out with, before glancing over his shoulder. Thankfully the troops weren’t pouring over the hill…yet. No doubt they would be at any moment, which meant that they had to get the hell away from here and not be standing here looking like idiots when they decided they should take their big guns and destroy them. And then he decided that he should probably pay more attention to the trail ahead of him and less attention on the back trail. He sure didn’t need any more episodes of what had just happened to him, especially since it seemed like his great pal Noct would probably just leave him lay to get shot by a bunch of military boys if he fell and broke his leg.
That being thought in his mind, Prompto really buckled down and ran to catch up with his prince, even managing to do so very slowly. And then they crested the hill. The blonde now found himself running through what seemed to be the anger of the Niflheim’s in the form of bullets. This sort of weaponry he knew all too much of. And a few landed directly to his side. Diving out of the way, Prompto once more tucked in his shoulder and did a summersault before smoothly getting back to his feet and sprinting after his buddy. Who had convenient barriers. “Yeah! Have a danged shield. I need to get me some of that light-seeing crap you have.”
While gulping in sharp breathes, Prompto turned and hefted his own pistols while he waited for something to happen. But just as Noct noticed, the blonde could see no bullets hitting those barriers Noctis had, nor could he even detect shots in general over his slightly ragged gasping. Snapping his scope off of his belt, Prompto snapped it quickly onto his handgun and dropped to one knee, squinting while he looked through it. He saw a few of the troops, with what seemed to be their leader holding his hand up as if to tell them to hold their fire. “That doesn’t make a bit of sense!” Looking up, Prompto caught the look that Noctis was giving him and nodded in agreement to resume fleeing. Prompto turned on his heel and once more took off again, this time actually alongside his friend instead of miles behind him. “What the hell are they even doing?!”
At the open question, Prompto pulled in a deeper breath than normal to get the ability to answer his friend. “I don’t have a clue! Their leader was telling them to cease fire back then, but I don’t get why. Could be because they’re trying to reel us in for some reason. Didn’t the PSICOM big boss man say something about rebel groups causing problems lately? Could be recruiting!” Of course, that was just a spitball of an idea there, but right about at that moment, they didn’t have much else. And Noctis was right, absolutely nothing they were doing made any sense whatsoever. “An’ can’t you put those teleporting powers to good use outside of battle?!”
