Gladious leaned against the chair he was currently occupying. He was waiting for Noct and Ignis to come out of a meeting. It was one of those meetings that didn't require him to be there. Or rather, Ignis would kick him out for being there. It was stuff that was between him and Noct, if it was something he needed to know then they would tell him. He didn't mind to be out here. It was some peace and quiet after all. 'With the guys I really don't have much of that these days.' he chuckled.
He closed his eyes and thought back at what he is to his friends. On how he first met each one and what they mean in his life now. He met Noctis and Ignis at the same time when they were kids, Noct wasn't scared of his size like other children. Strangely enough he allowed Gladiolus to follow him around. He and Ignis protected Noctis and were there for him always. When he met Prompto, he was glad to have someone who is cheerful and playful as him, maybe even more. They got along just fine and in no time at all he was part of the group, even Ignis acknowledged it, even if he didn't said it out loud. The guy was alright in his book, besides having someone else to bug Ignis to step away from his schedule. Prompto was a good person at heart. That was what made Gladiolus agree for the guy to become Noctis' bodyguard in the first place. Prompto had no bad intentions, and Gladiolus would have struck him down if he did.
'wonder that the guy is doing right now?' Gladiolus scratched his head. 'Hopefully not causing too much trouble for Ignis.
Ignis was a different story. Galdiolus remembered the guy being serious as far as he could remember. So to counter Ignis' seriousness Galdiolus decided to play it lenient, to be at ease, almost happy-go-lucky. Though this irritated Ignis to no end at first, the man finally got used to it... mostly. And Gladiolus knows that Ignis understands now why he acts as he does, in the end it was to help Noctis in his own way. That he wasn't stupid, far from it, it was just that Noctis needed something else besides responsibility.
'Then again, we're going to kill the man from high blood pressure if Prompto and I keep annoying him.' He chuckled.
Gladiolus thought of his other but one of his most important friends, Nocitis. At first the man seemed cool and collected. Just as one would expect from his family, but as they hung out more Gladiolus began to see the real Noctis. From there Gladiolus began to make Noctis feel more at ease around him. From chasing girls, much to Ignis dismay, to just hanging out and do nothing. gladiolus had to wonder how close was he before Ignis snapped and tried to strangle him back then? As they grew older they settled more into their responsibilities, Noctis was being a prince and Gladiolus was his bodyguard.
'And even now Noct has come a long way from when I met him.'
As to what Gladiolus was in their group now, he felt that he was the one to shield them from harm. He was Noctis' strength, all of their strength in fact. He was be the laid back guy that Ignis calls too care-free for Noct, it was to make feel the prince forget some of those things, even for a little while. That is what he wanted in the end. To be one of their pillars of support.
They are a vital part of his life, his friends. Something that he would never trade for anything in this world. He knows that they got his back as he did theirs. They had a strong bond that he would never throw away. That is what he worked for, this is what he knew what was right. He will defend that bond, their friendship till the end.
'And I would like to see the one stupid enough to try to take that away from me.' It was his last thought before he heard the sound of the doorknob turning, Gladiolus stood up, ready to greet Noct and Ignis...
