“It’s quite the mess.”
His confession to the large chocobo beside him only got a ‘wark’ and a nudge in return. Despite his worry, he couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous the big yellow bird was as it fluffed out its feathers and tossed its head around. With a raised eyebrow, Dajh caught the bird by the beak and shook his head, wagging his finger at it pointedly. “Now come on Fritz, behave yourself.” Despite his reprimand, the young boy’s voice and features were full of mirth. He enjoyed the bird’s antics just as much as the bird itself did. Sliding the bridle on the bird, Dajh stepped back, calculated the distance to the top of the bird, and backed up one more step. “Alright, hold still!” With a running start, Dajh sprang into the air, settling half over the back of the bird, his growing legs dangling off the other side. “Nugh.”, he grunted, scrambling to get a good seat on the bird. His flailing only succeeded in getting the bird to shift to the right, nearly settling him on his butt. “Wooah!”, he called out even as his hands buried themselves in the fluffy yellow features on the other side.
Unfortunately, the bird had other ideas. With another ‘wark’ to show its displeasure, the bird jumped to the side, wildly beating its feathers. A yelp, before the soft ‘thud’ could be heard.
Dajh blinked and stared up at the feathery underbelly that was standing over him, the break knocked out from his chest. “Fri-…tz”, he muttered out. Lying there to get the breath back in his lungs, he closed his eyes, moments later hearing the chatter right next to his hear, a strong beak pushing at him. All of a sudden the birds dumping him on the ground seemed hilarious, and Dajh couldn’t hold back the laughter that bubbled out of his lungs. That only excited the chocobo, who started to dance around him while Dajh rolled over and crawled out from underneath the large yellow bird, still laughing about it. “You’re so ridiculous! What’s got you so riled u-…” As he was asking that question, his gaze collided with the opposite pasture, where the hens cackled. “Of course. Showing off for girls! You wo-“ “Daajh!”
With bugging eyes, Dajh instantly felt a blush heat the back of his neck. Oh no! The voice had sounded quite close, and quite…feminine. Scrambling out from under the bird, Dajh’s head collided with the beak of his yellow bird. “Ow!”, he grunted, holding his head with his hands. A moment later the chocobo decided that he wanted to be free. To do so however, he decided to run right through Dajh. To avoid being trampled, the young man dodged left, only to trip on the footing and end up once more on the ground.
Brown eyes opened to see sandaled feet right beside him. Up, up, up his gaze traveled. Oh Etro! The legs. Did they ever end? Heat reached his neck once more, before he scrambled to his feet, only to step on the toes of the woman by him. “Oh man! I’m sorry.” The hand that reached to grab his shoulder and steady him wasn’t exactly soft, but that didn’t matter much. “Hold still, will ya pup?” ‘Pup!’ He was a full sixteen years old. To show that off, he puffed out his chest and straightened to his full height. Unfortunately he didn’t quite make it to be even with her. Actually he didn’t get even close. And was right at the height of looking at…at…cloth. Cloth covering…other things. Quickly he looked down at the ground, then up at the sky, and finally settling to the side. “H-Hi Fang!” She totally hadn’t seen that mishap, had she? Nah! Totally didn-“Quite the chocobo wrangler.” –‘t. Crap! “Uh…yeah!” Stupid bird. “Well I need a bird. The old man said ya’d lemme have one.” “What? Oh! Yeah sure. If you want, you can have Fritz. He’s all bridled up?”, he offered, gesturing in the direction that his runaway bird had gone. Despite looking at him with a raised eyebrow, she agreed and started by. On the way by him, Fang ruffled his hair. Instantly red crept up his neck again.
She…had quite the-….sash. Yes. That was what he was thinking.
…Sash
