Ace's heart beaten harder than a drum as he gazed upon the darkness, he was running, dodging, sidestepping, rolling, only to be launched against a rock by some impact that seemed to shatter bones even. He gasped, his eyes widened as his face was covered in blood that fell down from his head, tainting everything from his skin to his garments, his cards lying upon the floor, scattered and just as bloody as him. His breath was harsh, his vision turned blurry, but he could see through the darkness now, his friends fighting a monstrous creature, an incredibly powerful being that struck Ace with the fear of a thousand men. Though that not made him stop, rather made him move forward, the man healing himself after drawing cards up into the air, his wounds healed in a minor manner as the blue aura summoned a circular seal that bestowed upon him health. He grunted as the pain was still present, the spell insufficient to entirely cure him. He did not stop, as he once more drew cards up into the air, only to send them at an ally, casting a barrier that protected her from a powerful blow that was to be delivered by the creature upon his peer. He stumbled, wobbled as a step seemed to sap all of his strength... But he did not stop as he drew card after card, supporting his friends with all that he had. Explosions, shields, health restoring glyphs, mana restoring glyphs, trap cards, everything he had and more was used, his arsenal with each use draining him more and more, until finally, darkness, Ace not able to take it anymore as it all exhausted him, but before he could fall into it, the creature was looking down upon him, its weapon being driven down with the intent to kill him with that final blow.
"NO!", Ace shouted as he raised himself from his bed, sapphire eyes looking around as he gasped and seemingly struggled to breath, regaining the ability to in just a few harsh inhales and exhales. It took him quite a while to realize where he was, the boy pushing himself up against the wall as he struggled around, making the bed sheets even lift up as he moved, having grasped them at some point. Gasps turned to harsh breaths, harsh breaths eventually turned into normal exhales as the room comforted him and reassured the boy that he wasn't where his dreams had once more taken him. He frowned and placed a hand upon his face, grabbing it and only leaving one of his eyes uncovered as he did not want to fall into darkness once more. "... Again...", the boy sighed and frowned as he looked upon the white ceiling, embracing that it was once more just a dream, much like others he had before and ever since he had arrived at Academia. He began to grow tired of them, exhausted even, but there was nothing to be done. It was a climate of war, he was probably just stressed about it, or so he told himself much like his peers and friends had. It was the only thing he could do, otherwise he would grow insane thinking about what they could possibly mean, the idea of them being an omen once explored by him, but leading to no results. He hoped not, because quite a few had him stand upon a pool of blood of not only his, but also of others' blood. His friends lying dead... Those were the worse dreams he could have, the ones where they were harmed.
He sighed heavily once more, only to get up from his bed and proceed to get dressed, putting that once more behind as he has done before. There was no point in dwelling in dreams, as they were only that, dreams. Ace wasn't a little kid anymore, he had a obligations and duties to attend to, some self-ordained. Today was his day-off so to speak, so it was only obvious for those that knew him that he would bury himself once more in the one place he felt the most secured. A place where knowledge was abundant, never ending almost, where he could keep himself busy and actually acquire power. Yes, knowledge was power. And for the war that was to be fought, Ace needed all the power he could get. It took him little time to get to the Library that existed in Academia, the building immense and with the promise of what the teenager desired most now. It was one of the benefits to have been dragged to this place, at least its library was much superior to the one back at their previous school. Entering the building, Ace was in no time greeted with the numerous and vast bookshelves that stretched as far as the eye could see, a soft smile upon his lips as he made his way through them, sapphire eyes beaming as they passed by the books, Ace really looking like a child inside a candy shop, each book more tempting than the last. But he already had one in mind, the one he had yet to finish. After a while of walking through those halls made by the bookshelf, Ace eventually found the section he wanted, the book there for him, as if waiting. "There you are.", he said to himself as he reached for the book, taking it into his hands before continuing to walk, this time in search for a table he could sit to comfortably read.
L'Cie... That was what that book was all about, a small compendium with just enough information to know what they are exactly, how they were created, Fal'Cie, all of that was there for him to quench his thirst for knowledge about them. Why the sudden interest? Well, there was one dream where that name was mentioned so many times and, after all, they were a big thing here at least, so might as well be even more acquainted with their kind. One never knows when that information might be needed. Of course, the book was lacking precise, accurate and proved information, but it was better than nothing and with so little ways to explore these, he could consider himself lucky there was such a book. He eventually found an empty table, the boy sitting upon it, only to begin reading right away, shutting the world down in favor for this book. The roof could collapse on top of him and he wouldn't even notice. He just tended to focus too much on them for some reason.

We were born to lead {WORDS } 702 {TAGGED } Ace {WEARING} Class zero uniform This was simply ridiculous. With a slight roll of her eyes, Queen stared once more at the woman in front of her. “What do you mean, you can’t give out that information? I signed up to help out the Academy. How can I do that if I’m not told what exactly we’re going to be up against and when?” Despite maintaining a relaxed posture, Queen’s voice was clipped and her eyes were narrowed as they always were when she was annoyed at something. As far as she was concerned, this woman in front of her didn’t have a damn what she was talking about. “I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to go to Commander Estheim to answer any questions in regard to PSICOM and anything involving the activities surrounding them or our missions in return.”
Queen barely held herself back from backhanding the woman and telling her off. They were fighting a war, and they expected their ‘soldiers’ to blindly follow orders whenever and wherever they thought fitting to tell them? “And just why exactly do you seem to have a policy that you’re not allowed to tell the equivalent to your soldiers the plans for the place? I do believe we’re the ones that are going to be risking our lives out there fighting for your cause, so I think we would all appreciate a little knowledge and forethought as to what we’re going up against.” “Policy is policy Queen, I apologize for any inconvenience this will cause you, but I cannot go against any rules that have been set out for me.” Queen felt her temper going, and clenched her teeth slightly to ward off the feeling. “I apologize for your obvious lack of mental capacity and the fact that you blindly follow orders without figuring out morals behind actions.”
Turning on her heel, Queen left he woman sputtering behind her while she went her own way down the hallway. She was sick of the higher ups thinking that they didn’t need to tell anyone else about anything that was going on. Besides that, Queen did admit that it bit that she had gone from being one of the queen bee’s, and knowing everything about everything to not knowing anything that was going on. She could ask Carla or Naghi she supposed, since they had seemed to do good for themselves in that way, but at the same time, Queen would rather not have to ask them about things like this.
Her angry walk led her to the library. Hesitating at the doors, Queen waited a moment and finally walked inside the doors. Perhaps if that woman wouldn’t tell her what she wanted to know, she would have to simply look up different information about PSICOM. That worked for her she supposed, even if it was annoying. With that thought in mind, Queen found herself walking down the section that she thought she might find something in. Flickering violet eyes however, found something else entirely. The familiar blonde head of Ace. Without a book in hand, Queen made her way over to where he was sitting. Glancing at the book he was reading, she dropped elegantly down in the seat across from him and sighed slightly. “Most people are imbeciles.”
{NOTES} This didn't take two years to write ;-; I'm sorry |
