i walked across, AN EMPTY LAND. I KNEW THE PATHWAY LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND. I FELT THE EARTH BENEATH MY FEET. SAT BY THE RIVER AND IT MADE ME COMPLETE. OH, SIMPLE THING, WHERE HAVE YOU GONE? I'M GETTING OLD AND I NEED SOMETHING TO RELY ON. SO TELL ME WHEN YOU'RE GONNA LET ME IN. I'M GETTING TIRED AND I NEED SOMEWHERE |
[/div] to begin,
somewhere only we know
Penelo did not like this city. While Ivalice wasn't exactly completely technology free, all of the technology there was centered on direct usefulness. Air ships, Moogling, if it wasn't directly useful for everyday life people didn't bother with it. But here they had technology for everything. Even some of the pathways moved which she considered completely unnecessary and would forever deny shrieking the first time she stood on one without noticing it moved. They even had tiny airships that could only hold up to five people, which terrified her. There was no where near enough room in one of them for the amount of magicite required to power an airship so how did they even stay up?
She had been planning to hightail it out of the city and find somewhere less disorientating to bide her time but apparently there was some big event on and she was currently being squished in a crowd of people. From the whispers all around her she was able to figure out that the leader of the city was going to give a speech, most likely addressing the sudden influx of strangers from other worlds. She knew by now that she was not the only person pulled from her home and deposited on this new planet and it made sense that someone high up would eventually have to publicly acknowledge the goings on.
”….in this time of crisis. Ladies and gentlemen, the Director of the Academy and my good friend, Hope Estheim.”
And there he was. Penelo was almost surprised by how young he seemed but then she remembered Ashe and Larsa. Age wasn't always a factor in who made a good leader. After all, Vayne had been older than Larsa but he certainly hadn't been the sort of leader Archades needed. He was a megalomaniac tyrant but at least now he was a dead megalomaniac tyrant. As she listened to the speech given by the man, unable to see him due to her short stature and the huge crowds, she drew some uncomfortable parallels with the speech Vayne had given just after he had become Consul in Rabanastre.
”What I want to remind you of today is something that only the history books speak of. As many of you know, I am as misplaced in this time as many of you. I was born on Cocoon when it was still a floating planet in the sky, and I experienced the fal’Cie crisis first-hand. The people of Cocoon were experiencing what many to be the end of their world. If the fal’Cie had turned against them, the beings that they had relied on for the entirety of their lives, how could they hope to survive the future?”
She had had a natural dislike of speeches ever since then. Vayne's speech had preceded the rebellion and she'd twisted her ankle half way through Ashe's first speech once she'd been reinstated. Something bad always seemed to happen with speeches or maybe it was just when she was there for them. Either way, she really wasn't comfortable with this. She had a creeping sensation down her spine that, once again, something was going to do terribly wrong, and while she didn't believe in things like fate, she also wasn't one to ignore her instincts. She wanted to get out of the crowd, even if she couldn't leave the city yet. Maybe find a corner where she could get a better view and ease her mind.
”Those people were your ancestors. They may have faltered at times, but in the end they endured, and Gran Pulse, even with its great dangers, became-“
Somewhere to her left she heard the unmistakable sound of gun fire over the loud, booming voice of Estheim and the babble of the crowd. She wasn't even entirely surprised by the noise. Her instincts had been right in the past and were once again proving their worth. Violently elbowing her way out of the stunned crowd, the blonde unstrapped her staff from her back and looked around for the shooters. This wasn't her home, wasn't any of her business but she wasn't about to let people go around firing shots in a crowd full of innocents. She couldn't let it happen.
"GET DOWN!"
Damn it, she knew how this was going to go already. The majority of people in the crowd weren't warriors, didn't have the right look for it. That meant that they were civilians and civilians never knew how to respond to things like this. They would panic and stampede which would only lead to more injuries. She knew because she had seen it before, when her parents were killed. She spotted someone aiming a gun and fired a spike of ice right at their heart. They dropped to the ground and she kept moving, trying to avoid getting trampled by the crowd and stop the shooting at the same time. The blonde didn't care who was doing the shooting; the important thing right now was that they were stopped. Part of her was furious that she couldn't go anywhere without running head first into some sort of rebellion or war and the other part was coldly calculating which of her spells would be the most effective for killing the most shooters at once while leaving the civilians unharmed. She twirled her staff in her fingers and used it as a blunt weapon against the skull of another shooter who was facing away from her. With that one also down for the count she paused for a moment to take stock of her surroundings. Most of the gun fire seemed to be coming from near the stage which made that her goal. He was learning the ins and outs of this city, it was so different than what he was used to in Midgar. Some of the technology was similar but way more advanced to what he is used to. Currently, he was waiting for the speech that one of the leaders of this city was going to give. He was used to the speeches back home from President Shinra, and this was his chance to find out more about this world. He sat down on one of the roofs and began to listen to the speech. Angeal began to learn more about the people, how they came from a different planet and they migrated here due to some crisis. Angeal glanced around the buildings, for people who migrated not too long ago they really have advanced in this city. Then again it is human nature to survive no matter where they are. He continued to listen to the speech that the young man was giving. ”Those people were your ancestors. They may have faltered at times, but in the end they endured, and Gran Pulse, even with its great dangers, became-“Angeal winced at the unmistakeable sound of shots being fired. He wasn't expecting something like this to happen. He could have just stayed where he was, watching all of this unfold. After all, it had nothing to do with him. This was a battle between two sides, it was not something that he should get into. However, the sound of innocent civilians crying out in terror. His honor wouldn't allow him to just sit there and watch. Angeal took a step forward and jump down the roof. With his hand stretched out he focused, hoping that his Materia bracer worked for once. As he got closer his wing spread out and lightning started to crackle from his palm. He continued to focus as the lighting grew until there was a sphere of lightning in his hand. He pointed at the group that was doing the shooting. "Tri-tunderga!"Three arcs of lightning spread through the crowds, a young girl was taking command and telling civilians to get down. It was a perfect opportunity as the lightning struck surrounding men who had guns in their hands. They were all knocked away from the blast. He had enough of this from the war back at home, his SOLDIER pride wouldn't let the innocent be hurt from this conflict. Angeal landed on the ground and looked at the young woman that took control and was shooting spells. Angeal looked at the situation, it seemed that the center of this conflict was where the stage was, without missing a beat he took off. Guilt and shame be damned, he was not going to let this fight get out of hand. He pulled out his new sword on his back, he would use force if necessary. But first things first, he jumped into the air before and using the flat side of his sword to knock a couple men out. Angeal figured that it would be better to run than fly and be a prime target of the gunners. "Everyone remain calm!" Angeal let out in a firm voice. "Take shelter in the buildings that are open." Angeal used his large sword to slice open one of the doors that led into one of the office buildings. He didn't have magic but he had his skills and he will take care of this civilians first. "Please remain calm!" He said as he punched another gunner. He needed to get them out of the crossfire, even if its temporary. At least his wings were attracting attention to him and they were listening more or less. Words: 777 Sword:Exalted Outfit: SOLDIER 1st uniform Notes: none |

i am aware now of how everything TAG: The peoples! Words: 950
ONE LAST THING: So yeah, he's in front of the stage back from where Angeal is.
The term “bodyguard duty” had something to it when the one being guarded was Rinoa; when the body to be guarded was that of an important Academy researcher, Squall would have been just as happy to make an excuse of why he needed to stay with Rinoa for the day instead of making himself available for the press conference. Unfortunately, his ideas for excusing himself were all thin and uninspired, and Squall stood with an arm propped against the partially concealed side of the stage, attention provided to the researcher sitting only a few feet away and his gunblade propped beside him. He didn’t even think the lady was speaking in the conference, only making an appearance for the sake of filling up the stage with staunch and respected supporters of Director Estheim. Squall felt as if this was all a lot of show for little gain. People were flocking in to hear the speech from the director, yes, but the simple fact that bodyguards were needed indicated to Squall that the risk was far worse than the reward. Thankfully, though, Squall hadn’t spotted anyone blatantly suspicious in the crowd, and he was trained as a SeeD to notice quirks in large crowds – people who were trying so hard to act natural that they couldn’t react properly to something that should naturally cause a strong reaction. Fortunately for whoever might have fallen under Squall’s gaze when he’d made an occasional scan to the crowd, nothing had happened so far that necessitated a strong reaction.
The speaker had switched over to Director Estheim. Squall didn’t much care for what he had to say, as he wasn’t one of those who needed reassuring. While getting back to the world he knew did appear on his priorities list…it admittedly wasn’t the highest on that list. His world brought stresses: the stress of attempting to be the headmaster of Balamb Garden, the stress of protecting Rinoa’s identity as a sorceress, the stress of believing another sorceress might appear. No, Gran Pulse wasn’t much better. With a full-fledged war threatening to set fire at any time and new threats seemingly coming out of the wood- steelwork, Squall couldn’t exactly say Rinoa was safe from harm here, either. Plus, he could admit that he missed some of the others, wherever they were. But with the Academy completely unaware of Rinoa’s powers and his responsibilities lessened, Squall couldn’t say he wasn’t mildly content with Gran Pulse for the time being. He didn’t know if Rinoa felt the same. Maybe he needed to talk to her about it.
Something towards the front of the stage caught his eye, breaking him from his thoughts. Squall thought something bad was about to happen when he heard the Director suddenly cut off his speech. He knew it had already happened once shots from unseen guns rattled out. ”Damn it,” he growled under his breath, immediately regretting ever thinking there could be something good about Gran Pulse as he hefted his gunblade and hopped up onto the stage, already moving to place himself defensively in front of the researcher who had apparently decided that standing up at the sound of gunfire was a wise decision. Angling his head to her, Squall tried to judge how close she was to a panic, though his eyes were searching to spot all the instances of guns scattered around the crowd. He’d thus far made it to five weapons not in Academy hands. ”Down!” He didn’t know what the hell was going through her mind, but instead of obeying, she rushed off to the side of the stage. Squall grit his teeth but didn’t yell after her; he didn’t have the chance to yell after her. PSICOM was bearing down on him.
Three of them hopped up on the stage, and one of them chose Squall as his target. The other two, the SeeD couldn’t concern himself with when he had a gun pointed at him. ”Barrier,” came a quiet, almost growled command under Squall’s breath. A magical aura encased him just as the bullets cracked against it. Wasting no time, Squall endured the barrage with his weapon raised defensively until the PSICOM expended his clip. The gunman was the first to go on the attack, though, switching out a bayonet on his gun and rushing in Squall’s direction with it. It was completely tactically unsound, though admittedly, Squall doubted the man thought the gunblade was any sort of threat to him.
The SeeD needed only to sidestep the initial rush and send his gunblade, dry, against the back of the man’s legs to send him stumbling forward. Squall saw the sure signs of a pistol being pulled free from the man’s belt, and quickly reached out, letting his gunblade clank against the stage supported by one arm, to wring the wrist free of the secondary weapon. Releasing the wrist as the bayonet came towards his side, Squall hopped back, ducked a second swipe at head-level, and finally got his chance to mash the trigger on his weapon. Letting it fire upwards to devastating effect, Squall made a short hop to keep it under control as the man flopped backwards, dead from a gash through the front of his body before he hit the ground. Straightening and resting his gunblade against his shoulder, Squall swung in search of a second target, catching sight of a man – a winged man – ushering civilians into one of the buildings near the stage. Wing or not, he probably needed cover, triggering Squall to double-check the stage for further threats before hopping down into the street and preparing himself for further action.
It was a damn good thing Rinoa wasn’t here.
is gonna be fine

i walked across, AN EMPTY LAND.
[/div] to begin,
somewhere only we know
Penelo swore under her breath as she took a moment to get stock of what was going on. The guns on this world were faster and more accurate than the ones from Ivalice, which could be a problem. She was used to two, maybe three, opponents that couldn't fire nearly as quickly as she could cast, which meant that she was at a severe disadvantage against this lot. She could see other people in the crowd fighting back against the ones who had opened fire first so at least she didn't have to handle this on her own.
She spun her staff between her fingers and caught another shooter across the side of the head without really paying attention. Her main focus was split between trying to figure out a plan to take down as many of the shooters as possible and trying to plot out a route to use to evacuate the civilians. It would have been easy enough for her to do in Rabanastre as she knew every street and alley like the back of her hand. She had little knowledge of this city but just enough to know that the layout was dreadfully confusing.
She was quick to abandon the idea of evacuating the civilians. It would be unreasonable for her to try as she would be more likely to lead them all into a trap or something similar. Let the natives worry about escape, she would keep her attention on clearing a path for them to actually succeed at that. It was better for her to do what she could instead of getting in the way while trying to help at something she would most likely prove to be useless at. Time wasting in a situation like this would only lead to more people getting hurt or killed.
The blonde caught sight of someone aiming at a frightened looking woman who was trying to hurry away with a child in her arms and made a sharp movement with her arm. The man who had been going for a shot suddenly found himself engulfed in flames. She ignored his pained screams as his clothes began to melt onto his body, dashing past him to the mother and child. "Move."
Her lips were pressed into a thin line of sheer fury. While she never liked to see anyone die, it especially got to her when children got caught in the cross fire. Most of the people here were unlikely to have spent much time dwelling on what the loss of one or both parents did to someone that age and it got to her. She understood that it was not a subject people wanted to think about but that didn't excuse them. Neatly embroiled in her own fury, she grabbed the woman by her upper arm and pulled her bodily from the main crowd, flattening herself and the woman, who still held her child tightly, against a wall. She did a scan of the people clustering around the edges of the area, trying to spot something that looked like an escape route. Her staff slipped through her fingers and she had to dive to catch it as she spotted one of the oddest sights she had ever seen. Not too far from where she was huddled was a man...with wings. Honest-to-Occuria wings. She rubbed at her eyes and, when the wings didn't disappear, was forced to come to the conclusion that she wasn't imagining it. Penelo rubbed her temples in exasperation. This world was just getting stranger and stranger with everything she saw. She could worry about her sanity later though, she had to get this woman to safety. "Take shelter in the buildings that are open."The man appeared to be directing citizens and, since she couldn't see anyone else doing the same, she pulled the mother and child towards him. As she got closer she could make out words above the shots and screams that solidified her theory. "That way, do as he says." She gave the woman a gentle shove towards the building that no longer had a door and turned her attention back to attackers. The building that people were fleeing to gave her something specific to defend, rather than running around after individual citizens. She didn't know how many were at the stage and wasn't keen on her original plan of charging at it now that she knew just how fast the weapons here were. It would probably only end with her getting herself killed, which wasn't something she was keen on doing. Besides, with her stock of white magick she would be better served as a healer. Healers were rare at the best of times and a healer who could also hold their own in a fight made for a solid defence. "Need some help?" The blonde nodded to the winged man as a way of letting him know that she was...well, not on his side necessarily but not against him right now. They both appeared to be protecting civilians and that was all that mattered for the moment. She caught another shooter with a well placed Aeroga and watched as he crashed backwards onto another attacker. She dug her feet in, angling her stance to better hold her position against an attack, and kept her eyes on crowd as they essentially stampeded around. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 450px; border-radius: 20px; border: 5px solid #000318; background-image: url(http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h424/Shade066/Random/abg103.png);] Angeal never fully understood the strategy of going after innocent lives. Even back at ShinRa when he was a SOLDIER, that train of thought never really made sense to him. Attacking unarmed civilians was not honorable. Whatever side these Soldiers are from, if they continue to fight then so will he. This is his way to keep going. He had to keep fighting for the sake of others. He had to protect those who cannot fight, with the strength of a SOLDIER.
He was still urging the civilians to get out of the crossfire. It was not exactly the safest and most efficient plan but it was one that he thought of on the fly. Having somewhere to protect was a whole lot better than running around trying to protect each and every person. However there were still quite of bit of people who had to get into the building at find cover. These people are afraid and whatever that the guards of the city are doing is not enough to keep them safe at the moment.
With an uppercut he knocked away another gunner that tried to overpower him and get to the civilians. That was the bad thing about this idea, if he was defeated then the civilians will be under their control and will be used as tools for this battle. That is why it was important that Angeal kept fighting. There was one thing that he knew about this whole war. He doesn't care who started it, who was in the wrong, who was in the right. In a battle like this both sides were wrong. Both sides are at fault for getting the lives of the innocent in the crossfire.
Lightning started to crackle in his palm once more as he held the sphere ready to fire. swinging his arm horizontally as he fired the spell once again caused the lightning bolts to spread out and strike a few more men with guns. He didn't know who was a friend and who was a foe, he will just attack anyone who seemed like a danger to the people.
He glanced back, the civilians were going into the building as instructed but it was a slow process. They were panicking at the moment, though Angeal was sure that they knew more than he did. However that didn't help them at all since they would have no experience in battle. He would have to keep guard until this mess was over, with any luck someone will do something. "Keep moving along!" Angeal ordered. "Once inside you will be safe!"
"Need some help?"
Those words that he did not expect, he looked to the side and found a young blond woman with a large staff. It seemed that she wasn't from this world if her clothing said anything about her. She was also that young woman who was firing well controlled spells. Angeal snapped out of his thoughts, he would have time to play 20 questions later. Right now he needed focus. "Make sure that the civilians enter safely into the building. If you see anyone who is attempting to shoot at this building take them down."
Angeal's hands tighten around the handle of his large broadsword. There was work to be done He was sure that more people will come to either assist them or hinder them and try to kill them. Which one will come first was a good question. With a large swing on his sword he cut in a horizontal direction, cutting at one of the men. Taking one of the communicators from the dead men he placed it on his ear. He was starting to listen to the one who was in charge. Now he had a vague idea of what formations they were going to use. He looked around and took two more communicators before handing one to the blond woman. "Put it on and keep an ear out to what they are saying. Act accordingly, but most importantly be careful. I don't want you to get hurt by acting careless."
Angeal looked to the side and saw a man with a strange weapon in his hands. It looked like a fusion between a pistol and a sword. Angeal had to be on guard, if this man was a friend then he would welcome the help, if he was a foe then he will cut him down to keep the civilians safe. That he would swear by the little honor he has left.

i am aware now of how everything TAG: The peoples! Words: 682
ONE LAST THING: HUZZAH for...teamwork? Eventually?
”Go to him.”
Squall wasn’t the type to be much comfort in the middle of combat like this, but he tried his best to seem well-wishing as he took the civilians tearing off towards the stage – to a deathtrap – and tried his best to usher them towards the man with the wing that he’d spotted earlier but who had been lost to him once he’d dropped down into the crowd. SeeD training made him realize he was taking a lot for granted in believing that the man had good intentions, but the circumstances dictated that anything would be better than the civilians getting gunned down because they ran in front of the crisscrossing fire coming from within their midst. At least a building could shield them from that sort of end, at the very least. ”Get to the right and off the street!”
Once the majority of the immediate crowd was heading in the direction he’d indicated, he turned to watch their backs, immediately spotting two PSICOM troops pulling up to take shots. Squall made himself as big of a target as possible, glad his barrier had enough left to it to withstand the shots that came his way. Immediately after both clips were expended, he felt the barrier drop and took it as a trigger to waste no time in closing distance with the gunmen as one scrambled to reload and the other drew a sword out when he realized Squall was going to be bearing down on the both of them.
Gunblade held poised above his head, Squall triggered it and brought it down against the gun of the man reloading, sending him stumbling down to the ground. Squall rolled past him and underneath a swipe from the other man, using the blade to sweep across the second man’s knee and send him down as well. A bullet, probably meant for Squall’s head, crashed against his gunblade instead, the result of a sidearm now in the first man’s hand. Squall snapped quickly to release a ”Fire” against the man’s hands, leaving him to roll away to put the flame out while Squall turned attention to the second of the men. He stepped back to avoid wild swings of the PSICOM blade, backtracking his way back towards the one with the wing as he did so. He let the second man get to his feet and unleash a wild rush against him, blocking a blow to the side and at the neck before unleashing his own strike – a quick strike to the jaw to disorient and a quick-follow up to apply a blow to the crook at the elbow.
It was all for naught, as Squall and the PSICOM trooper both went reeling from an impact from a spell that Squall didn’t recognize – all concussive force, no burn or shocking damage. Catching on a hand, though, Squall popped up immediately and put away the PSICOM with the blade briskly with a triggered swipe before searching for the source of the spell and keeping on with his backtracking, sure to check over his shoulder once he realized he was in no imminent danger.
He could faintly see the man with the wing again, and spotted an additional, assumed ally – a girl with a staff in her hand and the magic to prove that she knew how to make use of it, as he noticed her unleashing a spell for a second before looking back for threats in front of him. Good thing he did look. There was the one that had cast the spell, up ahead of him and with some sort of device on his arm – Squall witnessed him launching a fire spell towards two Academy personnel. Squall sent Fire in response to gather his attention, settling into his stance a few feet away from the female mage and the man with the wing. They seemed to be communicating. Maybe he needed to do that, as well.
”They’ve got a mage coming with area-of-effect,” he barked over his shoulder. ”He’ll be able to hit the civilians if he gets too close.”

[/div] to begin,
somewhere only we know
Penelo nodded once to show she understood, her attention mostly focused on the crowd. Her eyes jumped from one person to another, keeping track of the civilians coming towards them and the attackers. Some were too far away for her to be of any help and she knew that, was much as she wanted to help, she would be no good just darting around randomly. Rolling her shoulders she snorted in distaste at the obvious panic rippling through the square. While she understood that fear, she had been a child the last time she felt it. Rationally, she knew that if Rabanastre had never been attacked when she was young then she would be just the same right now. But it had and she had grown cynical and somewhat bitter, which left her disdainful of such fear in adults.
Something was held in front of her and she took it tentatively. While she understood what a communicator was, Ivalice wasn't that out of touch, this looked far more advanced than the clunky things she was used to seeing back home. It was so tiny that she was afraid she would end up stepping on it and not noticing. Oh well, if that happened then she could just use her common sense to survive, she'd been living on it for long enough already. It was just luck that Vaan wasn't in the middle of this; his heart was in the right place but she would never mark him down as the brightest of people.
The blonde wiggled it into her ear until she thought she had it right and eyed the winged man. "Don't you worry about me, this isn't exactly my first war."
Penelo didn't know anything about the political situation on Gran Pulse but she wasn't stupid. A city in peacetime didn't have people suddenly opening fire in crowds and even if the people here weren't at war previously they would be after this. There was nothing like a good old fashioned assault to kick start a war. The civilian casualties would mean that the government would have little choice but to declare war or risk having a civilian uprising on their hands as well as the obviously military trained enemies. She nodded towards the panicking civilians. "Now that lot, they're going to be a problem if we don't get some order in the place and fast." Penelo took a moment to tighten her plaits and ensure that there was no loose hair that could get in her eyes and distract her from her targets. Once she was certain it was as tidy as it was going to get - the back was never as neat as she'd like but it would do - she put two fingers in her mouth and let out a loud whistle. It was a trick that she had learned from Migelo for getting the kids to pay attention when they were overexcited. The gunfire meant that only people close by would hear the noise and the only people that she could see who were that close were civilians. Sure enough, a few of the civilians turned and she made exaggerated 'come here' gestures with her arms. Even if the attackers had heard it it wasn't likely that there would be too many of them and they should be easy enough to get rid of. She found it interesting that they seemed to have very little defence against magical attacks here. Back home there was always some armour or accessory to defend against magick but they fell to it surprisingly easy on this planet. Well, she wasn't about to complain about anything that made her job easier. She startled as a voice spoke not far from them. Turning to face the male, she cursed herself for not paying closer attention to her immediate surroundings. Just because the gunmen could attack from a distance didn't necessarily mean they would and winding up dead because of a mistake like that would be nothing short of embarrassing. Also, she'd be dead and wow, her priorities really weren't in the right place today, were they? She registered what the man had said and gripped her staff tighter. "Got it covered." The blonde scanned the square until she could pinpoint the mage and quickly cast Shock. She would have preferred to use an ice spell, finding them more efficient and less messy, but Blizzard would be too weak to keep him down for GOOD and the other spells she knew were also area-of-effect and would have run the risk of injuring a civilian, which was the last thing she wanted to do. This is basically a capture the flag game between the two sides. Once one side had what they wanted, the flag, then this battle should come to an end. But in the meantime he had to hold on with his current allies. Getting people somewhere safe was his main priority. Other than that he didn't have to do anything for either side. Which is what he is planning, somewhere deep in the back of his mind Angeal hoped that Max, Tifa and her kids were safe and away from this mess.
"Don't you worry about me, this isn't exactly my first war."
He was lucky to have the young girl as an ally. Angeal could see in her eyes the determination and bravery that she had. Which Angeal had to wonder how much had this girl had gone through. Someone as young as he shouldn't have seen the ugliness that was war. That word, war, brought nothing but shivers down his spine. It always ended the same, one side crushing the other. And Angeal had a feeling that this wouldn't be any different. He nodded at the young girl. "Nonetheless, stay focused on your surroundings."
"Now that lot, they're going to be a problem if we don't get some order in the place and fast."
Angeal looked at the crowd that was farther away, with the gunshots and the spells flying around it was hard to yell at them to get to safety. There were a few options but he needed more people to keep the defense on this bulding.
”They’ve got a mage coming with area-of-effect,” Angeal heard the man with the starnge weapon in his hands. He saw how the man fought, how he was trying to stop all of the men that were trying to get to the building. If it wasn't for him the young girl besides him might have gotten hurt. It was a mess and he needed to find a way to get some order like the young girl said. ”He’ll be able to hit the civilians if he gets too close.”
Angeal started to push down on the ones attacking. He started to use he large blade to cut through. Though he needed to hold back his strength, if he used his full strength he might be able to cut a man in half, and that was something that he didn't need. Angeal was about to take off towards the mage when he heard the young girl that was close. "Got it covered."
"Alright, take the opposing magic user down. I'll take care of gathering the civilians and take lead them here." Angeal glanced around, trying to see if there were any other soldiers that aimed to attack from above. "Make sure you cover that guy, he seems to be an ally for now."
Without missing a beat he took off into the air, this was done so that if any other mages were around they would aim at him. He had taken worse from Genesis, a fireball to the face hurt... a lot. Angeal landed between an Academy soldier and a PSICOM soldier, using his sword he smacked away the PSICOM Soldier. He was a lot closer now to the the crowd that was still out in the crossfire. Taking a deep breath he began to give orders. "Everyone stay calm, follow me and I will lead you to safety!"
That got the attention of the crowd like he suspected... however that also got the attention of more PSICOM soldiers. The crowd was begining to gather around him, most of them looked scared of not knowing what to do. It was Angeal's duty as a SOLDIER to keep them at ease. Maybe Tifa was right after all... maybe there was a need for a SOLDIER still. "I promise by my honor that I will keep you safe!" |
