Nothing seemed to be odd or out of place. No one seemed to be lurking in this place's shadows. "Guess the scouting mission is a bust" |
She muttered to herself. She wore a black skirt that closely resembled her old Guardian Corps issued one. Shorts and all. She wore a plain black pair of knee high combat boots. Her Blazefire Saber hung carefully from a red hip bag that also closely resembled her Guardian Corps issued one. Instead of the uniform jacket, however, she wore a plain black tank top, and a tight fitting black leather jacket. It was still jarring to be in civilian clothes again. She couldn't remember the last time she wasn't in the Guardian Corps uniform, or the suit of armor from Etro. She sighed and gave the sector another once-over. Right, still nothing of interest. Whatever hunch the Academy personnel were going on didn't seem to math the reality. She was too high ranking to be sent on busywork missions. She shook her head of the thought. This wasn't the Corps, this was the Academy. Here she hasn't proved her worth. It was only Hope's word that gave her any sort of status and she knew better than to think that any sort of military operation would take anyone's word at face value. Even if that someone was the director of the operation. If they were to start taking the word of every joe-schmoe that held rank the operation would fold in on itself faster than they could blink. Lightning waited a few more moments before beginning another sweep of the area. She knew better than to look once and begin a return mission. There were lots of silly little hiding places in the area she was sure. She walked at a steady pace, comforted by the holster hitting heavily on the backs of her legs. At first the thing had been an annoyance, it bruised when she was running, but over time and training it became a normalcy. She constantly felt as if she was forgetting something if she didn't feel the weight there. She kicked a rock as she was walking. The sudden noise made her cringe as she moved. She silently cursed herself for not watching where she was putting her feet. Not that a silly rock would alert anyone of her presence presence in this situation, but it was a rookie move. She was trained better than this. [/div] tag: Gladiolus notes: Woo new post Maybe this is all a Test 'Cause I feel Like I'm the worst So I always act like I' m the best. [atrb=border,0,true][bg=eeeeee][atrb=width,500,true] OPEN THE DOOR OF TRUTH BECAUSE I'M HERE I'LL PROTECT YOU. WORDS 413 MUSE "Scarlet Knight" By Nana Mizuki TAGGED Lightning NOTES Not much to say. Gladiolus watched his step, |
this was an easy mission in his eyes. At least that was how it seem to him at first. He wasn't exactly sure what he was looking for. All they told him was to go to this place called Paddra and explore it. Then if he found something of interest or anything abnormal then he should report back. Well that was easier said than done. To Gladiolus everything seem so different and out of place. So he wasn't sure what was he supposed to report back. It could be the earth itself for all he knew. The guys could didn't gave Gladiolus anymore information. So he had to work with what he got. "Now then anything not normal..." He muttered to himself. Looking around as if anything would just pop out in the open. All he could see were ruins of buildings that were once stood proudly in this desolate place. Nothing more and nothing less, just the earth, the sky, and the ruins. Gladiolus was starting to believe that this was another dead end. But he had to come up with something or else he won't get to hear the end of it from the higher ups. And He was already sick and annoyed with them. He was starting to get to his limits and someday he would snap, but not today. "This is going to be harder than I thought."He sat down on a large boulder and just stared out into the land, not knowing what to do next. From what he dead the Academy people loved this place for its relics of the past. But so far he hasn't found anything, no Academy grunts, no relics, and no clue on how to get back home. But For now he had no choice but to play soldier with PSICOM. "This sucks," He leaned on his back and watched the clouds go by. This mission was a bust. There was no other word for it other than failure. He began to wonder what can he do next, he still have plenty of time before he had to report back. Gladiolus wondered if there was any way he could get some earplugs before getting there. At least then he would only have to read the commander's lips. "This cannot get any worse. A nap sounds good right about now."Unfortunately Gladiolus should have learned by now that when someone says it can't get any worse? It CAN get worse and it usually does. A sound in the distance caught her ear. With it being as quiet as it was every sound seemed to catch her attention. She hummed in annoyance and changed her direction. She paused again turning her ear to what sounded like muttering. It took her only a few minutes to locate the sound. She slowed her pace as she approached the man. It wasn't exactly anything to go running back to the Academy with, but it garnered her attention. She frowned at the man, her right hand straying towards the hilt of her gunblade. She didn't actually grab it however.
Who the hell takes a nap on a boulder in the middle of Paddra? That sounded like a one way ticket to death. Whoever it was definitely wasn't from around here, probably wasn't from this world. "Sleeping here isn't too safe." |
She called up to him. Idiot, she thought rolling her eyes. She shook her head. Who in their right mind would travel to a foreign world, and decide to take a nap right out in the middle of unfamiliar terrain? An answer came to mind as soon as she thought the question. Snow Villiers. She shook her head at the thought. The guy knew how to tweak her nerves without even being in the same area as her. It was incredibly stupid. She thought briefly that maybe it wasn't a foreigner. Instead a citizen of Cocoon who found themselves lost from a tour or something. She snorted. She was once a citizen of Cocoon. She was a Guardian Corps operative at that, tasked to protect Cocoons citizens It was amazing how one thing could change her life so drastically. Becoming a Pulse L'Cie changed her whole perspective of the people she once got paid to protect. The hysteria, and how easily they would turn on their own people just because someone thought that L'Cie could infect people. The Purge sickened her, always had. She wrinkled her nose at the memory. The distant memory, not as distant for her as it was these people. [atrb=border,0,true][bg=eeeeee][atrb=width,500,true] OPEN THE DOOR OF TRUTH BECAUSE I'M HERE I'LL PROTECT YOU. WORDS 517 MUSE "Fearless Hero" By Nana Mizuki TAGGED Lightning NOTES Not much to say. Gladiolus was on his back, watching the clouds go by. |
This place was really peaceful, even if it was a death trap. He closed his eyes, having nothing else to do. It wasn't like he was stupid enough to let all of his defenses go down and becoming monster chow. But there wasn't really much he could do and going back to base was a bad idea. He really didn't want to get yelled by some idiot who thinks that he has any power to order him and the others around. Gladiolus has been in PSICOM for a while and there hasn't been any progress on how to get back to their world. He let out a big yawn as he heard the wildlife around him. If it wasn't full or ruins and the large jungle-like area that was Gran Pulse, he would have though that he was at the park on a boulder. He had slept in worse places, and the boulder was more comfortable than it looked. However as time passed something was coming towards him. If the sound of footsteps was anything to go by. "Sleeping here isn't too safe."
Gladiolus could tell a couple of things from that voice, one that it was a female. She sounded young maybe in her twenties, just like him. And by the tone of her voice she had some sort of training. Possibly the military. Gladiolus has heard it before, from his father and other commanders. It was just a tone of voice that said, 'confidence in my skills.' Then again he has been wrong before, it was a good guessing game for him when he was extremely bored. "A lot of things aren't safe miss." He said without opening his eyes. He sat up and scratched the back of his head. At least he was in his old comfortable clothing and not that tight PSICOM uniform. Probably would rouse suspicion if he was placed in one. But after burning his last uniform they refused to give him another one. "But yet here we are, in this lonely place. But why are you here? You don't sound like some lost damsel."The chances that this person was from the Academy were extremely high. After all this was a place that the Academy had its eyes on. Yet, he wasn't really worried about not getting caught. But he was a man who went with the flow. If she was from the Academy and she did find out that he was with PSICOM then he would just talk it out. Gladiolus opened his eyes and looked at the young woman with casual clothes. Her pink-like hair to one side. She had a cute face but she looked serious. At least Prompto wasn't here, knowing the guy he would try to flirt with her. He let out a friendly smile and continued. "The name is Gladiolus, at your service. Now then what can I do for you." He grinned. He was a cheerful man by nature but he kept his hand free if a monster would appear. His sword was modified to be kept out of sight. But it can be drawn at a moment's notice. He gave the pink haired woman his full attention, he did not want to insult her or anything like that. Of course, Lightning didn't like most people. Even the people she claimed were her family got on her nerves more often than not. She hummed in annoyance at his words. She understood his checking over her appearance. Definitely no damsel, but the fact that he was able to determine that by her appearance suggested military training, or at the very least some form of battle training. She didn't like it, especially not in the middle of Paddra where she was searching for any form of PSICOM interference. The fact that he decided to lay down and take a nap in the middle of Paddra supported the theory, either he was that confident in his ability or that stupid. More than likely both.
"Why I'm here is none of your concern. My training requires me to make sure you are uninjured and in good health. Seeing as neither seem to be an issue I've fulfilled my obligations." She said. She was trained by the Guardian Corps, first and foremost that meant protecting citizens of Cocoon and now that, that definition was a bit outdated it meant her obligation was to be sure civilians in general were ok. While this man seemed more than civilian, she had no proof that he was PSICOM, for all she knew he could be one of the many people pouring into Gran Pulse from other worlds.
She was momentarily distracted by a static noise buzzing into her ear, followed by a voice over the earpiece fastened into her ear.Farron anything new out there? She bristled at the use of her last name and nothin' else when being addressed. She lifted her wrist where she had a metal cuff to get mouth."Sergeant Farron." |
She corrected in annoyance before switching off the communication system. Just because her credentials were from a couple hundred years ago didn't mean she was giving up rank. She had worked too damned hard to reach her station. Not to mention she could wipe the floor with the majority of her commanding officers. "Lightning." She replied to the offered name but nothing else. She kept her stance guarded. If he was PSICOM she just gave herself away, but she couldn't risk flipping off her communication without giving them some sort of reply. She was sure the news of the lost communication would reach Hope rather quickly. No need to worry him, or cause any unnecessary search parties. Joining this military operation had been a bad idea. She wanted to help Hope and the others with the PSICOM issue, and other than as a soldier she wasn't particularly useful. She was smart, but not like Hope and his Academy researchers. She had not committed much of her science courses from school to memory. Almost none of them, other than biology, more specifically anatomy. Focusing on what points of the body made for kill shots, and which would just slow her target down. [atrb=border,0,true][bg=eeeeee][atrb=width,500,true] OPEN THE DOOR OF TRUTH BECAUSE I'M HERE I'LL PROTECT YOU. WORDS 583 MUSE "Fearless Hero" By Nana Mizuki TAGGED Lightning NOTES Why do I feel that Lightning is not going to be happy? Gladiolus continued to study the young woman. |
He was just surprised that someone else was here in this empty place, he hasn't see anyone so far. Then again he was a bit lost as to what part of Paddra was he at. He could ask the young woman with pinkish hair, but he had a feeling that she wasn't the type to handle questions. Almost reminded him of Ignis, how the man was serious and always focused on that he is doing. "Why I'm here is none of your concern. My training requires me to make sure you are uninjured and in good health. Seeing as neither seem to be an issue I've fulfilled my obligations."And Gladiolus was right, the woman was in the military. Which came with two situations, one if she was from another world like himself then he would try to get more info on what the Academy had found about returning people to their world. Though that would result him in getting to a fight with her. That is something that he was not looking forward to. He could just fall back to his other plan: play dumb. "Good job on doing what you are supposed to doing in a situation like this. Though I get this sense of 'try something funny and I will hurt you' vibe for some reason." Gladiolus raised his hands in front of him. "I got nothing to hide and I got no reason to fight you Miss.""Sergeant Farron." Gladiolus blinked as he heard the woman, he looked at her as she was talking to her communicator. So her last name was Farron then? He let out a smile as he waited patiently for her to turn off her communicator. He had his off before he came here. Noctis and the others know that he can take care of himself. And he could really care less what PSICOM thinks, secretly he thinks that they are just sending him on these co called missions in hopes that he would get killed in the process. It was really pathetic in his opinion. The woman let out another name. "Well nice to meet you Sergeant Farron."Gladiolus jumped off the boulder he was sitting on and then looked at Lightning. He could get more answers if he followed her. He could learn more about this place as he tries to have a conversation with her. Though at this point he might as well just start strolling around the place. "So Sergeant Farron," Gladiolus began. "What can you tell me about this place?" he pointed behind him, the ruins of what it seem like a city. "This place seems interesting to me and I want to find out more about it." Well that last bit wasn't exactly a total lie. He did want to find out more about it, he just left out the part where PSICOM sent him to find out what the Academy was up to. Or that he needed to use force if it was something that could put the lives of the organization at risk. "Mind if I stick around with your for a bit?" Gladiolus asked. "At least until I find something of interest, then you can leave me behind if you want. So what do you say?"[/div] TEMPLATE BY SAMARECARM OF OTE + BTN[/div]

A slight headache was coming on. She frowned. She wasn't used to having them. In fact the only time she remembers having one, one that wasn't from dehydration, injury, or exhaustion, was when she was younger. Not too long after her parents died, and she became ill. She ignored it until she had to be hospitalized. The whopping price tag on ER bill was one of the main reasons she joined the Corps. They kept her in good health. Sick soldiers were ineffective soldiers. They also helped her provide for every single thing her baby sister required. She inwardly recoiled from the thoughts pertaining to her sister, instead focusing on the likelihood that she was becoming sick. Maybe it would warrant her some time off. She sure as hell wasn't interested in wasting her talents on wild goose chases.
Lightning took a moment from her wandering thoughts to focus on what caused her to become annoyed in the first place. This man had a lot of nerve. His attitude reminded him of the behemoth that called itself her sister's fiance. She glared at him. "I'm neither a tour guide nor a babysitter." She drawled. Truth be told she wasn't particularly familiar with the area herself. She had a GPS device that told her where she needed to go and that was that. Paddra wasn't someplace that the Corps had on their radar too often. It got notice, but she was never put on patrols here personally.
She wasn't looking to pick up tag-alongs. She wanted to finish her work and go back to her quarters. She still had a hard time calling it home. It didn't feel like home. The fact that Serah wasn't there with her seemed jarring to her. She hadn't ever planned on her sister to be just gone. She knew eventually she would move out and live with Snow, they would have a family after all. She had not planned for the girl to be just gone however. She expected frequent unannounced visits and hectic lives. She sighed.
"What you do is up to you. I'd suggest not following me." |
She growled. She span on her heal and began walking away. She was not impressed with the man. He seemed sloppy and a bit slow on the uptake. The likelihood of him having been left behind by a tour group or something seemed high in her mind. Even if he seemed to have some form a military training it was quite obvious he probably wasn't from around here. He was either the type to be sheltered, from Cocoon not having left it ever, or from one of the other worlds. The former seemed unlikely only because not many people from Cocoon bothered to train themselves in battle. [atrb=border,0,true][bg=eeeeee][atrb=width,500,true] OPEN THE DOOR OF TRUTH BECAUSE I'M HERE I'LL PROTECT YOU. WORDS 483 MUSE "Canary of the Sky" By Nana Mizuki TAGGED Lightning NOTES Not much to say. Gladiolus raised an eyebrow at the attitude of Lightning. |
He wasn't used to having someone that cold to talk to. Well at least not anymore, there might have been times that Noctis was like that but it was when they were kids. However, that was years ago. Noctis was more open and friendly than before. The man was serious when they were in official meetings, but with the guys he was a bit more shy, at least the man was growing out of that. However this young woman was just cold and it seemed that she was starting to get annoyed. "I'm neither a tour guide nor a babysitter.""I'm not asking you for a tour guide Sergeant Farron." Gladiolus stretched, he could hear a couple of bones pop back into place. This place was really starting to make him sleepy. He should go on with his so called mission and find things out. However, maybe he should go on with his own. He had a perfect opportunity to find out more about the research of other words from someone else. If this person was from the Academy then she would know something right? Yet despite of asking all these questions that are roaming in his head there was one problem. That problem was the woman in front of him. If he was too direct then she would see through him that he was hiding something. And that would lead to a Q and A that Gladiolus would prefer to avoid. Since this woman wont hesitate to fight judging for her mannerisms. "What you do is up to you. I'd suggest not following me.""Why not, I wanted to ask a question though. You're from the Academy right?" Gladiolus took a step towards her. "I wanted to ask how do they treat people that came from different worlds. Do they know a way to get back?" At least those questions were innocent. Honestly Gladiolus wasn't sure if he was just pushing his luck against Lightning. "Sergeant Farron...." Gladolus stopped, he wasn't sure what should he say to make her less tense. Or at the very least not as grouchy towards him. It was like she hated him just because he was breathing the same air as her. That didn't really sit well with him, showing such coldness towards strangers was nice. It means that they shouldn't mess with you, but still. Gladiolus didn't think that was nice of her. "Could you at least show me the way out of Paddra?"Galdiolus wanted to smack himself for saying that. He wasn't supposed to know much of this place as much as Lightning knew. But unless she didn't pick up on this he was going to enter a conflict soon. He just hoped that his talking skills were enough to calm her down out of a confrontation. All she wanted to do was get back to her quarters, rinse the ungodly amount of silt that had started clinging to her skin off and get some rest. She was fairly tired of the grunt work that the so-called military had been throwing her on, and now she had this to deal with. She looked him over once again. There was a definite chance he could be of PSICOM, though she was pretty sure that most of them were at least intelligent enough not to take a nap in the middle of Paddra. Or maybe they were suffering from the severe lack of quality soldiers coming out of training that the Academy was also facing.
"I am Academy. The people from different worlds are given housing, and basic necessities. They are offered a spot in the militant forces, or the science teams, if they are of age, able bodied and willing. It's by no means mandatory however." She explained. From what she could ascertain they took on many more civilians than PSICOM did. If they didn't fight they didn't have a place in the PSICOM areas. That was all assumptions, however. PSICOM was never much for charity, or touchy feely crap.
"We don't have any answers to returning people to their worlds yet. I know we have some of our best people on the issue, but until then, we are trying to keep the refugees as comfortable as possible." She explained as best she could. Though his questions weren't outright suspicious, it meant he knew that there were other people from other worlds. If he didn't know how the Academy was treating the refugees, it was safe to assume he was himself PSICOM. Possibly even one of the rebel squadrons that seemed to be popping up. She quickly moved into a defensive stance, now gripping the handle of her gunblade tightly. She didn't withdraw it, however. He had yet to attack her and she was not one to pick fights.
What were they doing sending people out to what was mostly Academy territory. The Academy had a pretty large stake on the area. She had just been here to take a look around. She hadn't expected to see anything of note. "You are PSICOM then I assume?" She asked looking him over. Her jaw was clenched tightly. Who would be stupid enough not to pick up on the blunders he was making. If they had been sending them to infiltrate Academy by posing as a refugee he wasn't doing a very good job.

[atrb=border,0,true][bg=eeeeee][atrb=width,500,true] OPEN THE DOOR OF TRUTH BECAUSE I'M HERE I'LL PROTECT YOU. WORDS 702 MUSE "Monster" By Paramore TAGGED Lightning NOTES I feel Lightning will not be amused. Gladiolus watched as Lightning let out a sigh |
, it was clear that she did not want to be there with him at the moment. She wanted to go somewhere else, though Gladiolus could sympathize with that he still wanted to hear answers. He always got answers half way back at PSICOM. They wouldn't tell him the things he needed to know. Which was part of the reason that he was working with them in the first place. Gladiolus wanted to go home, he wanted to get his friends home. That was the main reason he started to work for PSICOM, that he is following their orders more. Though he didn't like it. In fact he hated to work for PSICOM, yes their military response unit was impressive. They would be ready the second a monster or beast came forward to their land. However their methods were less than appealing. He wondered how much have the others seen on their missions? He lightly shook his head and continued to listen to Lightning. "I am Academy. The people from different worlds are given housing, and basic necessities. They are offered a spot in the militant forces, or the science teams, if they are of age, able bodied and willing. It's by no means mandatory however."'Seems like the Academy is softer in their tactics of requiting than PSICOM.' Gladiolus thought in his head. He was just surprised that the Academy faction would be so willing to take care of refugees for nothing in return. Especially if these refugees have some sort of ability that they could be used to help their cause. Looking at it from both points of view it was a good thing and a bad thing. "Ah I see, that's nice of the Academy to not keep fugitives under their thumb. They area happier that way you know." He smiled. "We don't have any answers to returning people to their worlds yet. I know we have some of our best people on the issue, but until then, we are trying to keep the refugees as comfortable as possible."So the Academy had no answers on how to return home then. That was a major disappointment, he was hoping to hear something good from her. Then again he wasn't into science stuff, so he was as clueless about this stuff and probably any other soldier. " I see that sucks but I guess that its not a quick process then." Gladiolus placed his hands in his pockets. "Ah well I guess I'm stuck in this world until someone finds a way to get back then.""You are PSICOM then I assume?"Gladiolus studied Lightning's body, she was on the defensive. her hand was on her gun handle. Gladiolus face didn't change from his smile. Even when he heard her say those words through her gritted teeth. He didn't have any reason to pull his blade if she didn't. So he would keep his mind calm. "Well yes and no." Gladiolus answered truthfully. "I dont really feel like I am part of their faction." He shrugged. He leaned against a large rock and continued. "Call your nerves Sergeant Farron, If I wanted to something I would have attempted so by now." He waved his hand. "Learn to chill a little, I honestly don't know why they sent me here. To be honest I don't care, I want to find a way back home for my friends. And lets be honest, if I wanted you to take me into the Academy I would have just gone there and said that I was a refugee."Gladiolus continued to study Lightning's movements. Wondering what is she going to do, but as long as her weapon remains where it is then he had no reason to get out his own. He closed his eyes and waited a response from lightning, his expression never changing from his smiling, almost happy-go-lucky smile.
