"Who's speaking?"
The lightest of groans escaped Naghi's lips as he leaned over the panel before him, listening to the squeaky voice coming over the line. He wondered sometimes how certain people ended up at this academy if they couldn't even figure out how to run a COMM, which wasn't rocket science. Light sarcasm flowed through his words. "The wide, flashing panel that says 'Naghi Minatsuchi' should be a good indication." The small chorus of embarrassed ohs coming over the line a few seconds later informed Naghi that the girl had figured it out now that he'd beaten her over the head with it. Leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest, he waited for her to finish her light stammering and report to him whatever it was she was meant to report. He hoped it wasn't anything too urgent, or someone would be dead before she got it all out of her mouth. Considering his reputation around the school for his work in the ops room, though, it made at least a little sense that she'd be all over herself in confusion. She was reporting intelligence to the most well-known intelligence man in the school.
"The commander- would like to, uh, to know about your progress." Naghi plopped back down into the rolling chair he'd been sitting in before the message had come in. If he had to give nothing more than an explanation, he wanted to at least be comfortable for it. "I'm into the mainframe and already downloading some information about the emperor's funeral arrangements and autopsy," he told her. He could almost hear her eyes widen over the radio. "Already!? How did you get past the firewall!?" Naghi shrugged slightly as if she were standing right before him. He was so used to talking to people in this manner that he almost felt like he was talking face-to-face with the person on the other end of the COMM. "The blocks they use are in foreign code and difficult to crack...but not for me. What, you think these war-minded Milites are better with security and tech code than our class at the Peristylium?" He leaned over to punch a few keys on the panel, drawing up the files he was downloading for his own personal viewing as the girl let loose another series of embarrassed sounds. It was always easy to figure out the newbies...
"The Milites went out of their way to put on a show," Naghi proceeded to tell her, supposing she could take a sneak preview back to the commander of her class if she could stop uming and awing. "They had a whole funeral procession with a very angry-looking Cid at the front of it, swaggering." Of course, Cid Aulstyne always looked angry. Naghi should know, he had handled enough photos and videos of the man in the past few weeks to be dreaming about him. Well...less dream, more like nightmare. Dreams were more reserved for young cadets who were already starting to learn why Naghi was so well-known around the school, but those were thoughts for a day when he wasn't smack in the middle of a Milites outpost.
A little sound like a phone ringing stopped him from saying anymore. Speaking of which... "I'm going to have to finish this conversation later...call on the other line," he told her, receiving a slow, reluctant okay and catching something else she started to say to someone behind her before the COMM went dead. ...Right. Clearing his throat, Naghi took in a breath and mashed a button on the panel to take the message. He immediately shifted his voice from its usual loose timber to a more military-style, harsh tone, adding a slight accent to his voice just for good measure. "This is base designation S-4." Immediately after he'd finished and the voice on the other line started asking for his operating number, Naghi shot over the edge of his chair to the unconscious Milite operator on the floor, patting down his jacket for his keycard. He found it just as the man finished the word number. "2-4-0-1-3-2," he responded, sounding as bored as possible. "Base, we have report of unauthorized access to the primary data cache from your location. Do you know anything about that?"
Naghi groaned in mock frustration. "One of the new technicians has had some 'new, revolutionary ideas' on how to handle our firewalls and overall security software detail." His eyes shifted to the bar on the download. Four percent. He didn't have to stall this guy for long. For effect, he made a few clicks on the keyboard before him. "Mmm, yes, it's showing me the access is from in-base with an employee key-code...no...no he's not using our codes...what is he doing?" Leaning back and looking very pleased with himself as the download finished and the man on the other side of the line started barking out orders for the hardline to be cut, Naghi picked up the disk with the information, gave a panicked assurance that he'd go handle the nonexistent new technician personally before the troops arrived and immediately got rid of any indication he'd ever been doing anything more than adjusting the firewall's codes to make them better, going so far as to leave the firewall on the screen. Hopping up out of the chair, Naghi gave one last glance at the unconscious operator on the floor and shifted out of the door, never to be seen by this particular group of people ever again. [/size]

NAGHI MINATSUCHI HEY THERE, THEY CALL ME NAGHI AND I'M CURRENTLY 19 YEARS OLD. I'M FROM THE WORLD OF ORIENSE WHERE I AM AN INFORMATION BROKER, SABOTEUR, MISSION COORDINATOR, AND MEMBER OF THE NINJA CLASS. I GO FOR GIRLS WITH HALF A BRAIN AND I WILL THROW MY WEIGHT BEHIND THE ACADEMY. ------------------------------------------------- Weapon:
Daggers: Being a member of the ninja class at the Rubrum academy, Naghi has been trained in the use of more than one ninja-type weapons and tools, from tripwires to something as simple as a katana. His preferred weapon of choice, however, are daggers, due to their flexibility both as melee weapons and as projectile weapons.
Abilities:
Espionage/Sabotage/Infiltration: Being a part of the academy's ninja class, Naghi has been trained extensively, and has a natural talent for, the less-upfront methods of dealing with the missions the Peristylium has for its students. Naghi is highly skilled at sneaking his way into places, getting what he wants out of it and then screwing the place over before he leaves. In fact, it's his primary specialty. Naghi knows enough about how possible enemies - like Milites and Concordians - operate and uses that knowledge to his advantage to be as efficient as possible. Basically, if a mission involves the subtleties of war, Naghi is the first choice of people in Rubrum.
Information Handling and Surveillance: In addition to his use for missions on the other side of enemy territory, Naghi is also skilled at handling the goings-on of the Peristylium Operations Room. Basically, he is one of the key contributors when it comes to handling information that comes in and distributing that information to other students for their own missions. He's also good at gathering this information - which is a blessing and a curse for the students, as a part of Naghi's efforts always go towards keeping up with what goes on with students at the school, and for that reason...he can find out some interesting tidbits sometimes. And boy, is he ever willing to use those tidbits.
Communications: Naghi's experience in the operations room has given him extensive experience with the Peristylium's primary method of communication with cadets, candidates and the regular army - the crystal-oriented messaging medium, known more simply as COMM. The communication system of the Academy is not very different, making Naghi quite useful to the Gran Pulse organization in that manner as well.
Fighting Skills: Though he mostly deals in the brainy side of Peristylium operations, Naghi can definitely fight, and is a very nimble, quick fighter like most members of his class.
Personality: Naghi sees himself as quite an important figure in the hierarchy that is the Rubrum Magic Academy. It's not pure, outright ego or anything, but it's an understanding that he is an important individual and people thoroughly appreciate for his abilities. For that reason, he just naturally assumes people will give him what he wants...and then he has a little dirt on everyone if that doesn't work out. Obviously, Naghi doesn't exactly have as many followers as he likes to believe, and it's probably because he's not a completely charismatic figure. In fact, he can be a little aloof at times, which kind of works against his "everyone loves me" idea. Still, Naghi is surprised, maybe even a little offended, when people act like they don't know who he is.
That said, though, Naghi does do his job well and gets along with most of his associates, even if he isn't the most easy-to-get-along-with fellow because of his tendency to be a bit of a self-minded con artist at times. He does get along with people who are like-minded, though, meaning typically the non-Class Zero individuals who are interested in gain and are typically competent enough to be in Class Zero themselves. Overall, as long as you're on the other end of a COMM line or willing to take Naghi for what he thinks he is, you'll get along with him pretty well.
History: Not much is known about Naghi before he popped up at the Suzaku Peristylium, but conceivably, he arrived there from the same situations as many of the students, either with the loss of his parents or with the decision his parents couldn't support him. In fact, he was one of the first to arrive at the school, likely setting the pattern for how things advanced further on down the line. Nonetheless, Naghi became assigned to Class Nine, becoming the first member of that class, at a young age and began his training.
Due to being one of the older students, Naghi came to understand he was idolized among the student body...or came to fathom that he was. In truth, many students did and still do look up to him, but not quite to the extent he believes. Though an ace in the operations room, he did go on to gather quite a reputation as sort of the school con artist, having information on anyone and everyone around him. Such a system has kept him as a pretty influential figure in the school.
During the events of the game and around the time the Milites emperor was deposed and murdered by Cid Aulstyne, Naghi has pretty much been put in charge of the operations room. He assists Class Zero on several missions, typically as a go-ahead or mission coordinator, and assists the western army against the Milite forces during Caetuna's summoning of Alexander. Fortunately for him, he is nowhere in the vicinity at the time. Instead, he returns to the Peristylium just in time for the greatest disaster the academy had seen.
With the time of Finis coming, the school comes under attack from strange demonic creatures known as Rurusasu. Only Naghi and a few other students survive as the staff has completely abandoned the Academy. Taking over operations temporarily, Naghi informs Class Zero that he's sent the main Rubrum army to check on Cid Aulstyne's whereabouts. Unfortunately, upon finding him, they are wiped out, and Naghi informs Class Zero they'll need to go personally to stop Cid's efforts to manipulate the time of Finis to his wishes. Little is known about what happens to Naghi after Class Zero departs, but it's likely he doesn't survive any further attacks from the Rurusasu.
It doesn't matter, though, because Arecia retcons everything.
