THE ACADEMY
The Academy was a scientific expedition group built by Bartholomew Estheim and Rygdea after the events of FF13. Later on, Hope Estheim became leader to this government that replaced the Sanctum. By the current time, the Academy has become the government of sorts on Gran Pulse, with the city of Academia being their capitol. They lead the world with their scientific advances and the inventions that they have created and are currently creating. In the recent events with the various people from different worlds, the Academy has set aside a section purely for helping to relocate these people and help them get used to Gran Pulse, even welcoming those that the Fal’cie has made l’cie. To try and fight back the chaos, they’re looking into scientific advances that they can possibly use to get these foreigners back to their own worlds and fix what has been broken.
PSICOM
PSICOM stands for Public Security and Intelligence Command. Though they had been in league with the Academy for some time, after the events of FFXIII-2 they have once again branched off from The Academy. PSICOM takes a more violent stand on the situation. They do so because they blame the Academy, their advances, and their inventions on why the bad things are happening. They claim that it could have been avoided had The Academy just ‘minded their own business’. They fight in opposition to the Academy and the l’cie that the Fal’cie have been making lately. Though they ‘welcome’ the foreigners from other worlds, usually PSICOM hazes them into joining their side. That, or they give them false hope that while they can help them get home, The Academy cannot. Unfortunately, no one’s going home, they have yet to know that though.
NEUTRAL
These are the people that refuse to get involved with any particular side. Even if they have strong beliefs, for whatever reason, they don’t want to nail down their alliance to either the Academy, or PSICOM. Often these are the people that both sides try to persuade to join their cause. Sometimes it’s just because they’re trying to figure out still what side they do want to join, and will eventually do so. Other times, they don’t want to get involved at all and have negative opinions about the fighting that’s broken out.
CIVILIANS
Civilians, much like those that take a neutral stand in the fights, are just plain old people. They can be found anywhere really, in the larger cities, the villages dotting Gran Pulse, or anywhere they want to call home. They can live in the same places as the Academy or PSICOM are located without much interference with their lives. They’re free to go where they please, and most respect their just wanting to live their lives in a peaceable fashion, without getting involved. After all, you need the land owners and shop keepers to ensure that the supplies needed are there.
REBELS
This is the group of people that defies both sides. Perhaps they have their own interests to do so and hope to end the war by defying both sides, or like villains from each world, they would rather bring destruction to things themselves. Needless to say, rebels usually dislike both sides and are seen fighting them both. Rebel groups can be found scattered through Gran Pulse. Make love, not war.
