How many days was he stuck here? It was only one, but the one day of quiet and monsters made it feel like forever. but how was he going to get food and drink for the day's travel? His body was already complaining about the lack of food. "I wonder if these monsters taste any good," he muttered to himself, letting his mind wander once again to random ideas that popped into his head. That's when he heard it. A woman's voice.
Getting up from his resting spot, he approached quietly to witness her something the winds blew in. A child's doll it seemed. However, his stomach growled loudly, ruining the moment and forcing him to hide behind the pillar. His heart raced as she looked his way, seeing nothing. Calm yourself, he thought, talking to himself, Take it easy. She didn't seem to have a weapon, so maybe I can threaten some food and water from her.His heart raced more as he waited for the right moment.
That was when the wind picked up. having to shield his eyes from the sand as well, the young boy pulled his dagger out and ran at the older woman. "Hold it!" he yelled at her. "Hand over your food if you wish to keep your life!" His heart raced even more, never even thought about killing another human. Just look intimidating and I won't have to, hopefully.

He tried to keep his face as intimidating as possible, but as she approached with no fear at all, his eyes shook in freight. She was not afraid of him at all, and it was simply that. From his experience, those who did not fear such threats were thought of as better than him or not as seen as much of a threat. What was even scarier was she was willing to surrender her food, even if it was a simple apple. Actually, the airborne fruit caught him off guard enough for it to stumble between his fingers before he fully grasped it.
With her bringing out his threat to the front, he stepped back a full step, scared now about her confidence. She is not worried at all! However, with food in hand, he felt like he got what he wanted and darted off back to his small camp. Pausing to catch his breath, he tried to focus himself so he could enjoy his meal. That was when there was yet another growl. "Quiet you," Douken said allowed, staring at his stomach, "Be patient and I will get something in yo-" Another growl interrupted him, and it was not his stomach. His head looking back up, he found he had company of a Gorgonopsid, whose jaw dripped with saliva. "Get your own apple!" he yelled at the wolf beast. But he didn't care about the fruit. No, the wolf wanted meat, and there was an easy prey right in front of him. Too easy to simply let so, so the beast chose to pounce the boy with a hungry growl.
Pulling his dagger up, he was able to avoid getting the bite himself, but the wolf was quick to get on top of him. This beast did not want his prey to leave him. "Get... Off!" Douken was able to scream as he tried to fight, but a dagger being used like a chew toy was not exactly effective.

The sound of the punch echoed through his ears and make the world around him turn silent. it was like time slowed down as the woman's presence stood out in the open like a painting. He was so surprised he didn't even notice the sound of the beast getting ready to fight back against the new enemy. When she ask if he could get up, he was simply shocked. He just robbed her. Why would she be helping him?!
Getting back onto his feet, he stumbled back to the woman's side. "I'll be al- My dagger!" Sure enough, when the woman's attack went though, the knock back took the dagger out of his hand and between the beast's tooth. "You got to be kidding me!" With what seemed like a reckless move, he charged in right at the beast. Sure enough, the Gorgonopsid snapped back at the youth. The jaws were too close for comfort to his right hand as it snapped down. However, his hand was there intentionally to grasp his dagger once again. In one swipe, he pulled it out of the beast's mouth along with some teeth. "He only caught me off guard, that's all," he told the woman, trying to act tough, even with his heart pounding.

Wait... toss his dagger? Was she NUTS?! He risked his life away for his mom's memento, and she wants him to toss it at the beast. "Do I look like a Ninja to you!? Hey, Monk-Lady!" He shouted at her as she dashed off, already taking the plan into action. Guess that's a yes... echoed in his head before praying to his mom that he would hit and not lose the weapon.
watching her brawl with the beast, he tried to figure out in his head how to throw the dagger in such a way she wanted. What if he missed? What if the weapon sank into her arm? What if the handle hit its head instead? however, with questions clicking in his head, he didn't watch until she called out to him, causing him to turn. the beast was struggling, so there was no second guessing and might as well roll the dice. "Here goes nothing!"
Stepping forward, he flung out his right arm forward, having the blade spin into their direction. It was as if time slowed down in his eyes as the weapon flew in the air before,
SHINK!
