Theme for this post: The Price of Freedom-Crisis Core OST
The sun shone down high from above the massive plain. Plants and vast plains of grass covered the area as far as the eye could see. In the distance, peaks upon peaks of mountains could be made out. Occasionally the ground shook with the thunderous footsteps of an Adamantoise, while the loud roar of a Behemoth could be heard in the distance. Shadows from the wyvern's flying above brought shade from the hot sun of Gran Pulse as they flew overhead. With the exception of the dangers, one could find this place extremely beautiful and relaxing.
Naturally of course, it would also be an ideal place for a nap, or a frightening place to find yourself waking up in, as is the case with a certain black spikey haired SOLDIER who had just emerged in this world passed out in the grassy plains. Nearby footsteps of an Adamantoise made the very ground beneath his body shake, causing his eyes to open suddenly, revealing that glowing sky-blue Mako infused gaze. "What?! Where am I?" he asked as he glanced around and jumped to his feet, only to stumble and drop to a knee as an adamantoise took yet another step. "Did the Lifestream change or something Aerith? he asked, hoping to hear that all to familiar calm and gentle voice. He waited just a moment or two before looking around, puzzled that her voice hadn't come to him.
"AERITH?! he called out again, trying to piece together exactly what was going on here. He remembered his death, remembered coaching Cloud during the battle with Sephiroth on Edge, then remembered darkness...like something had literally consumed the Lifestream. Slowly he reached to pinch his right arm, only to yelp slightly as pain coursed through his body. "Well, good news is this isn't a dream and I'm alive. Bad news is...I have no idea where Aerith is..nor do I have the means to defend myself." Sighing he began to fall into his old routines of squats, partially from excitement at getting a second chance at life, and partially because he honestly just needed to think.
Zack had reached maybe twenty squats before getting knocked on his behind again thanks to that annoying Adamantoise. "Owww hey! Stop that! he yelled out, wondering just what he had fallen on that hurt so much. Turning to look behind him his eyes widened in surprise as he noticed a handful of familiar looking glowing orbs as well as..."Oh yeah!" he said as his hands closed around the handle of the Buster Sword and gave it a twirl before turning it so that the flat end of the blade faced him and rested his forehead against the cool steel. "You're still looking out for me, aren't you Angeal?" he asked as he placed the two yellow materia into the blade, followed by the final one into his ankle before allowing the others to just merge into his arms.
"Well no sense sitting around here. If I'm here....Aerith might be too." he said as he placed the Buster Sword in its rightful place on his back and did three more squat thrusts before taking off at a full sprint. If she was here, he was going to find her. No...not if she was here, she -was- here. It was odd, but he could feel it....feel it deep down in his heart. She was here, and she might need help. "Hold on Aerith! SOLDIER First Class Zack is on the job and here to save the day!" he said enthusiastically as he continued his sprint, calling her name out at the top of his lungs.
