A sea of flowers. Was it a dream come true? Or simply a chance location that she had missed before? Marlene walked out into the middle of the field, surprised that there were so many. She wanted to pick them all.. Tifa would like them. And they would look good in 7th Heaven..brighten the place up a bit. She knelt in the flowers, starting to gather them, when she noticed something else among the purple blossoms nearby. Curiosity piqued, she reached into the clusters of flowers, and picked it up. A doll?
The doll was faded, as if it had been lying there a long time. It had a faded, smudged once-pink pompom atop its head, and small lavender wings. A Moogle doll? Whose was it? How long had it been left here, alone, abandoned? Someone was probably missing it.. Marlene knew how she felt if she lost something. Maybe another girl had lost her doll.
Marlene looked up, realizing she had been out here a long time. How long had she been gone? Tifa would be worrying. And she didn't want Tifa to worry, or think that she had run off again. That would mean she or Cloud would be coming to look for her. That wasn't responsible of her to make them worry. She hurried to get back to the road, leaving the vast field behind, her arms full of flowers and the doll.
She was a big kid now..she didn't want anyone to see her as a little kid, as someone who didn't know anything or didn't understand. Tifa and Cloud didn't see her that way..she hoped. Tifa let her watch the bar when there was business to discuss with others, so that was proof wasn't it?
Cloud, Tifa, Denzel. That was her family. If Daddy Barrett would come back, that would be wonderful too. But she knew he was busy. He had things to take care of too. And she would be strong like him. She would stay with her family, and make sure they were happy, just like they made her happy. After all, even if she was still 9 years old, she could be as strong as her family members. No matter what happened. They had been through things no normal family had endured. And things had changed..but they had also gotten better.
Marlene had to giggle. Such serious thoughts. It was to be expected, having picked things up from Cloud. What were kids her age normally thinking about? Certainly not things they had been through.. Probably dressing up, playing with siblings, going to the parks? She looked at all the flowers in her arms. Picking flowers was nice, something normal, calming, relaxed. A small petal fell off of one of the blossom clusters. They needed water quickly. Otherwise, they wouldn't look as nice for Tifa. She hurried into 7th Heaven, and searched for vases to put them in. She wanted to surprise Tifa when she and Cloud came back from wherever they were.
