“It’s a shame to abandon such research so early on, but what can one do about it?” the old man said, sitting at the desk of his new laboratory. The computer in front of him was clear of any kind of data he was yet to pursue, and the only thing he had left from his old home were the weapons he had last used and a piece of nethicite which held his artificial Esper, Famfrit. “Besides, what can one do about it now? Might as well see what is available here and start reconstructing my Rooks.”
Puling the keyboard and mouse close to him, he immediately started to draw up specs of the new Rook models he was going to build. There was one benefit here: they had a power source just as strong as the manufactured nethicite to power these machines, and it was a rechargeable energy. This made salvaging core a much easier task.
After a few hours of modeling and planning, he had already had four different prototype models to build. “Now with that, might as well see what else makes this world so fascinating.” Getting up from his seat, he moved himself out of his lab and down the hallways of the facility. “Venat, I think you would enjoy this place,” he muttered to himself, as if expecting Venat to actually reply back. “Here, people choose how to advance. However, they cannot seem to choose on how to evolve. Seems like this entity known as the Fal’cie chooses who is worthy enough to become stronger, just as you have chosen me.” The muttering of the madman seems to still linger within his mind, but it’s not like it mattered. “Still, to think this is what happens when one dies.”
His mind flashed back to the moment he was taken out at the top of the Pharos. Being engulfed in Mist before he was taken away from his life. Seeing Ffamran- no, he wanted to go by Balthier- before him before the Mist threw his body out of this world. He thought it was the end, but now he was here, and this was certainly not where he was expecting to go. And when there are people who worry about death, it makes it hard to assume that you are dead yourself.
“Still, I wish I could have been there to see it. The Bahamut revealing itself to the people of Ivalice. It is almost sad that I couldn’t see one of my greatest works launch. I bet it was the ultimate turning point in the war.” Not like he was worried about that war anymore. He was about to partake in another one. The factions of PSICOM and The Academy going at it, all because of some chaos from an outside force. One cannot simply wait around and watch them go at it. No, one of them needed an engineer such as himself to tilt the war in their favor. “Don’t worry, Venat, I will be sure to help this world too…”
